Help me be more EF!

If you have any tips for remembering to bring the reusable grocery totes into the grocery store, let me have them!  I always forget, even when they are sitting right next to me in the passenger seat.

Also, DH and I got two boxes of those liqueur filled chocolates for Christmas.  We do not like them and won't eat them.  Any ideas for getting rid of them?  I feel weird giving food to Goodwill but I can't think of anything else.

TIA

  • As for the grocery bags, I would put them all by my purse and grab them. If I forgot them in the car, I would send DH to get them or buy new ones. After I had to buy a couple times, I started remembering!

As for the chocolates... could one of you just bring them into your work and let people take them if they wanted them? I would feel weird about donating food to Goodwill as well, I don't know if they would take it anyway.

  • Anytime I have extra food I dont want I give it to a homeless person.  They are everywhere around here and always appreciate it. I dont know if that is something that you can do in your area.

As for the bags, I did exactly what PP said and now I always remember.

What about a homeless shelter? I dunno if its real liqueur or not (if its alcoholic, DON'T donate them to a shelter LOL!) but you could also donate them to a non-profit. they use stuff like this in raffles or as gifts!!!

  • Yeah, don't think the liquer-filled chocolates are the best thing to give to a homeless person or a shelterTongue Tied, but it IS a great thing to give to a church or an organization who does basket raffles and such.
  • And re: the bags, I hate the reusable bags because they don't hold much and dig into my hands.  I have over the decades collected many LL Bean Boat and Tote bags and such and I always keep one in my bag with other little bags in it.  It's big enough to catch my attention and also hold an entire trip worth of groceries.  I keep it on my passenger seat, DH keeps his in his hatchback so we can always see it.
