FF/cloth diapering moms-Questions

Okay so we are getting ready to start cloth diapering and unfortunately we had to switch to formula after some stressful nursing issues.  My sister has been cloth diapering her DD for almost 10 months so we are all set with cloth diapers and covers at this point.  I'm still waiting on our wet bag from Amazon and we just got the diaper pail liner.  My question is, now that we are formula feeding, what do we do with his BM diapers?  My sister is exclusively BFing so she has no idea what to tell us.  Any suggestions?  TIA

  • Scrape the poo off or give it a quick rinse, then put it in the pail.

Safe to do in the sink?  Silly question, maybe.  Aww...our babies were born on the same day!

  • I'm pretty sure you have to plop FF poop (we BF).  You can use flushable liners or get a sprayer if you don't want to plop/scrape

I dunked and swished DD's extra nasty PB poo diapers in the toilet.  I never invested in a sprayer.

I would be afraid of clogging my sink and getting poo back up.  Eeew. LOL

  • I don't actually know the answer to your question.  But you can buy a diaper sprayer that attaches to the water line on your toilet.

  • You have a few options:

1 - Scrape off or plop into toilet depending on the consistency

2 - Get a diaper sprayer and spray off into toilet

3 - Get the disposable liners and drop the poopy liner into the toilet.

  • I exclusively FF and cloth diaper.  We live in an OOOLLLLDDD house so I didn't bother even trying to install the sprayer on my ancient toilet.  We just take the pooy diaper and throw it in the toilet.  When you come back to it swish it a bit and most of the poo will come right off in the toilet.  Then just throw it in the diaper pail.

After that I wash them about every other or every two days on the stain cycle.  I also extra rinse...  I didn't get them rinsed once (used way too much soap) and he got a rash....  Also only use about 1/2 oz detergent.  Which is way less than you think you need, but it works.  Here's a great website about cloth diaper detergents.

These help get the rest of the poo out.  We use All free and clear for the diapers and Ecos for clothes.  Sometimes there are some stains but it doesn't affect the absorbency.  I'm not to picky about stains, if you are there are some tips online to remove those.

Sorry if this is to much info, but I am true cloth diaper convert!  Though, disposables are great for trips out.

    Good Luck!

  • We don't scrape, line or swish.  It comes out just fine in the wash.  We tried the liners, but LO has poop-splosions, so they didn't work.
