Only about 5% of pregnancies have their water break spontaneously. I was in the lucky 5%, but I was on bed rest and was out of work. But I still had to walk through a crowded hospital and ride up 10 floors on a crowded elevator as the fluid just kept coming and coming - I will say, I did not give 2 hoots.
A lot of years and a million tears finally led me to you.
After 7 years trying to concieve, 3 failed IUIs and 2 failed IVFs, my third IVF was a success!
My Christmas baby turned into a turkey bird! Dillon Richard was born at 34 weeks, 5 days on November 28, 2009 after 10 weeks on bedrest for preeclampsia.

Yeah, I was one of the "luckies" that had my water break in the middle of a Christmas shopping trip. I walked into the store and started shopping with my aunt and all of a sudden I felt a huge gush and then it dripped down my legs. It felt gross. My aunt and I just started laughing hysterically b/c it's out of your hands. I had 2 gushes total befor leaving the store and scurried out trying to keep my legs closed. It's funny when I think back. FWIW I was 2 days over my DD. If you are that worried start wearing large pads to try to minimize possible leakage.
Mine broke at home at 2:00 am. It wasn't a big gush. I woke up and things felt "squishy". I thought maybe I peed a little but when I stood up it keep leaking.
Mine broke at home. It was a very small amount of moisture at first and when I went to the bathroom, I could tell it had broken for sure. I wore a pad until I went to the hospital.
my water broke at work, but besides my boss (who I obviously told so she would know why I was leaving early!) no one knew. It wasn't a huge gush, more like a leak that would leak more when I moved. Nothing too bad don't worry, if it happens, it happens...not much you can really do about it!
Mine too broke in the hospital after a really large contraction. The nurses had just left my room and told me I was only 1 cm dilated and would be sent home if I didn't progress. I showed them!
With my daughter, my water broke at the hair salon - and not just a trickle but a huge gush and puddle everywhere. So embarrassing, but nevertheless, I stayed and got my hair done for 3 hours before going to the hospital.
I was induced and my OB broke my water for me. And based on what the nurses told me, I didn't feel any of my contractions until AFTER my water broke. Seriously, I slept for six hours, all the way through contractions that were 3 minutes apart and I was 3cm dilated, until they broke my water. So, when I have another baby, I'm hoping that my water DOESN'T break on its own. THe bag of water provides a cushion/shock absorber for contractions.
Re: Water breaking question
Haha - don't worry! It's pretty unlikely. Mine broke with the first contraction I had after getting to the hospital. Good timing.
But, FWIW, my Sis had her water break in Costco - she's no worse for the wear!
