3rd Trimester

Watching I didn't know I was pregnant...

And thinking, really?  How could you not know?  I've had a pretty easy pregnancy, no cravings, no sickness and not that tired, but still, my belly has grown and I feel crazy kicking!  Anyway, just wanted to share.  I'm bored and waiting for my c-section on Saturday for my breech baby!

Re: Watching I didn't know I was pregnant...

  • I know... I just don't get it. Even if my belly has not grown the way that it has, these kicks alone would have sent me to the Dr. asking questions.

Even if I was told that I could not have a baby I would have went to the doctor to inquire if I had some  type of parasite... LOL.  I just can't get over the movement part.

  •  I know that most of them seem that have had irregular periods, but when you're in a relationship with someone, don't you have pregnancy tests around the house "just in case".  I was told that I would not be able to get pregnant, but I always had pregnancy tests just to make sure, and surely enough the doctors were wrong.
  • I actually knew someone who was pregnant and did not know. My cousin who already had a son got pregnant with her daughter 2 years later. She carried her until she was 35 weeks when she went to the hospital for stomach pains. My g-ma is the one who drove her to the hospital and that is when she found out. My cousin is now 21 years old and the product of a I didn't know I was pregnant mother.

She claims she never really felt anything and that even her husband didn't notice anything different. I guess these are just one of those phenomenon that no one can explain.

  • Never underestimate the power of denial.
  • Some of them are so obvious that you have to ask how did you not know.  However, I can see for some of them.  My mother didn't know she was pregnant for the 4th time until she went in to see her dr and insisted there was something wrong with her.  She took a pg test every month for four months and all were neg.  She had bleeding every month, like clockwork.  She just felt different so she went in and told him that something was wrong, she was dying (being sarcastic, of course).  He got her on the table and started an abdominal exam then asked the nurse to bring in the dopler.  She turned out to be about 5 months pregnant.  So, for the girls that truly have no realy symptoms, I can really see not knowing they were pregnant.
  • I've also had a very easy pregnancy (I've only gained about 6lbs, no sickness or cravings...very little discomfort) and I have absolutely no idea how someone could not know! I don't know what kind of food those girls could possible be eating to mistake gas for fetal movement. I saw one episode where the girl was even having boob leakage and didn't suspect she was pregnant or think she may need to go to the doctor. Even if I thought there was absolutely no chance I could be pregnant, I'm pretty sure stuff leaking out of my boobs would be enough to send me to the doctor.
  • Yeah, I just don't get it, I mean I could see maybe the first few months not knowing, but come on! I saw one where the girl said she thought she was just having a big BM...umm, I'm sorry, but that BM is coming out of your vagina and not your butt!!...this just makes me upset because I think that most of them are just in denial and don't want to realize that they have a LO that depends on them....

  • It does happen.  It happened to my coworker.  She and her husband had been TTC for 15 years, and then she was told that she wouldn't be able to have kids.  She was in her 40's when she conceived.  She never got a tummy because her uterus tilts inward.  Plus she never got real big because the baby was born preemie.  During the pregnancy, she thought she was going through menopause because of her age, which she thought explained the missing period and other new sensations.  Then she gave birth to her son when she was only seven months along.  Thankfully everything turned out well, and he's now in his way to three years old.  She is an example of yes, it can happen!

  • I think some of these people are either A) very ignorant B) in sever denial or C) both a and b.

I just don't understand how you can go full term and not know. I get that they may have had an easy pregnancy but some things are just too obvious.

Thank you!  I'm really nervous, but I'm sure everything will be okay!

    this!!

  • I have been feeling AND watching my stomach do flip-flops for the past 3+ months. HOW THE HELL can that be confused with gas?!?! I'd like to know what that chick had been eating. I have a *very* hard time believing that a woman can write off movement, lack of periods, AND bloated abdomen... or claim they didn't have any of the above. How is that possible?!?!?
  • I know someone who didn't know she was pregnant and delivered full term.  She's always been slightly overweight and had VERY irregular periods.  Because of her size and the way she carried, she didn't show at all.  She had some light spotting but that would've been a typical period for her.

She thought she was having appendicitis and asked her Mom to take her to the hospital.  The doctor examined her and told her she'd better call her husband because she was in labor and would be delivering soon.  Of course, he thought her Mom was joking when she called him.  It was their first baby and were completely unprepared - they had nothing!  Luckily, she delivered a healthy little boy.

It was a different story a few years later when she had her second.  She carried him differently (more out front) and actually felt kicks, etc.

I saw this same episode and I can't believe she didn't go to the dr! Even if I was sure that I'm not pregnant I would go to the dr if I was having boob leakage, I can't believe she didn't do anything!

Think of all the months we spend planning for our LO's, can you imagine having not finding out until you are in labor - you would have nothing ready and no preperation!
