want to play the name game with me?!

So DH and I are talking names... now that we know the genders.. we have reached a conclusion for our DS.. He will be named in honor of my FIL who recently passed away... (DS and FIL will have same initials, but different names) so his name is: Nicholas Declan

I wish things were as easy for our DD... right now we like Juliana... but I dunno.. what do you guys think? any suggestions for new names??

give me some options/feedback!

  • I like Juliana :)  MN: Marie, Elizabeth, Claire - something classic, I think.

Other similar names are Gillian or Juliette.

Good luck - can't wait to see what you settle on :)

  • I really like your boy name.  I had Juliet as one of our name choices but DH vetoed.

Everyone I know has a really hard time with girl names. :)

  • LOVE Juliana.  It's on my "List of names I love but DH won't let me use." lol

I like one n better, but it depends on if you want the a to sound like the first A in Hannah or a softer A like "open your mouth and say 'aah'".  If the first, then I'd use 2 n's, and if the second, I'd use 1. Does that make ANY sense? lol

How do you want people to say it?  I think with Juliana you'll get more "Julie-ah-nah" and with Julianna you'll get more "Julie-anna".

  • I like Juliana, its pretty :-) I don't have a lot of girl suggestions though...but for MN something short like Marie, Claire (I'm kinda partial to that being as its DD's name), etc... Good luck choosing names

Oh and I love the boy's name! I wanted Nicholas for our son but we can't b/c BIL's son is Nicholas...boo.

  • I like Juliana a lot and it sounds very nice with your last names.
  • My niece is named Julianne, which I absolutely love.  I agree with the -ana being pronounced ah-nah and -anna being an-nah.

My niece is Julianne Grace... and our last name also starts with an M and is two syllables... so I think you have a winner =)

  • Well, my daughter's name is Natalie, which sounds cute with Nicholas...as long as you don't mind the names being a little "matchie".  Juliana is a pretty name.  I also really like the name Eliana/Elliana.

  • I have a Julianna *two n's*, but I love them both.  FWIW, we mostly call her Jules.
  • I like Juliana best I think.  It does sound nice with Grace.  Good luck.  It can be tough to pick names!

Genevieve = love but totally vetoed by DH.  To Mar: love the boy name and Juliana.  I agree w/ pp that classic middle name would be pretty (marie, claire, michelle, Lynn)

  • I like your boy name, it is very nice.

I like Juliana Grace as well. I've also always liked Abigail, Brianne, Ava, and Lillian.

BTW, I missed your gender announcement, congratulations!!
