3rd Trimester

Should I call the doc?

Christmas day my feet got really swollen for the first time but I figured that was because I ate crappy all day (lots of salt).  Yesterday and today my bp has been high 140/83 and I have always been 120/80 on the dot before this.  I dont really feel different other than being really tired today with a slight headache.  Should I be concerned?  I have been drinking lots of water today and I am going to check my bp again tonight.  Do you think I should call the doctor tomorrow?

Re: Should I call the doc?

  • Remember this, it never hurts to call, better safe than sorry.

  • If it would make you feel better to call, then call. Mine is almost always 120/68 but last week when I went, I was more swollen and mine was 130/80. The doctor said that was still low and it was nothing to worry about without more symptoms because swelling is normal in pregnancy.

But, if you think something is wrong, then just go ahead and call - that's why they have on-call nurses/doctors.

  • I always say that if you feel worried then make a call. I know if it were me, I would call as I have been very normal the entire time as well. Good luck.
  • If you have a headache that won't go away and your BP is high then I'd call, especially if you got really swollen out of the blue.

This. I have read that headache +suddenly swollen + sudden jump in bp = problem

  • My theory is if you have to ask the bump if you should call the Dr., then you probably should.
