Just when I thought for sure that I was going to be the first woman to be eternally pregnant, my little man decided to make his arrival! (I was 41 wks and 3 days)
I woke up on the 26th at about 1a.m. to pee and lost a little of my MP. I tried to lay back down to sleep but I had some cramping so I got up again around 2a.m. I pee'd and lost some more MP and then decided to stay up for a bit since I was wide awake. I did eventually lay back down from 5-7:30a.m. When I got back up to pee, I lost the rest of my huge wad of nastiness (aka: MP) I noticed after that some leakiness so I put a pad on and DH and I left to go pick up DD from my IL's house.
As the morning went on, I was leaking more and more and eventually it was green. I knew I was leaking amniotic fluid and there was meconium, so i called the on-call dr. and she advised us to go ahead and go to the hospital. So my mother came and picked up DD and I took a shower and off we went.
When we got here (at 12:15p.m.) they did a test to make sure it was amniotic fluid - it was positive so they admitted me. I was shooting for a VBAC, so I was suprised when they started me on pitocin. That quickly got things rolling pretty heavy and it was only a few hours before I was crying for my mother and my epidural! ;D After the epi was in place, they got my catheter in, an internal fetal monitor, plus an amniotic flush tube to try to continuously clean out the meconium. I had all kinds of tube and wires coming from everywhere! Not exactly the way I had hoped, but at that point, it didn't matter - I was on my way to getting my VBAC and meeting our little angel.
My SIL works in the L&D dept here at our hospital and thankfully, she was our nurse. She was absolutely wonderful and I couldn't have asked for better. She checked me around midnight and I was only dialated to a 5. Then I tried to get some rest for a bit and when she came back at 2a.m., I was ready to push. I couldn't believe it. After about 20 minutes of pushing, she called in the dr. plus a team from the nursery. They informed me that they were going to have to take him right away b./c of all the meconium (it had been pretty thick) and also not to freak out b/c they did NOT want him to cry right away either.
Soooo, a few pushes later, Gabriel Timothy was born at 2:57 a.m. on December 27th, a beautiful 7lbs, 10oz and 20 1/4 inches long. I was bawling ofcourse ;D
We're still here at the hospital but we'll go home tomorrow. I'll be able to post pics then!!
