I asked my OB to measure me today because I feel and look huge. Sure enough, I'm measuring 30 weeks. I don't think I'm going to be able to fit in any maternity clothes in 5-7 weeks and I am starting to think that I may be too uncomfortable to continue working past 28.
We shall see. I just hope that I won't go into PTL just because my body will "think" that I'm measuring 40 weeks....Please tell me that this is not how things work...
Re: Measuring 30 weeks at 23 weeks
Be proud of that bump!! I felt the same way but somehow managed to walk (never was on BR) to 38wks 5 days with a bump that I kid you not stuck out like a horizontal watermelon!!
I won't lie, maternity clothes do become challenging (I'd say esp. at 34 weeks on), but you manage. Luckily, the long sweaters and layering looks are in, so that will hopefully help cover an expanding bump in these cooler months.
As for worrying about PTL, I wigged out about it daily and made it way past what I ever thought possible....try to have faith that you WILL make it full term and do everything possible that your dr. tells you. Your bump WILL go over the 40 wk mark, but as I said before, be proud of it! I laughed at how people commented at how huge mine was the last few weeks of being pg!! Your body miraculously accomodates and expands beyond measure (...literally).
You're doing a great job! Hang in there!
I've been consistently measuring between 7-8 weeks ahead for a while now. So, I was looking 30w at 23w as well.
Now I'm 34w and I measured 39w at my last visit, but I think that's b/c Baby B flipped to breech from transverse, so she wasn't as high up anymore. Previously at 32w I measured 41.
I've started joking w/ people that up until this point, I looked like a "normal" pregnant lady w/ just 1 baby that was further along that I am now. Now I'm to the "freakishly big" stage
.
Try not to worry too much about PTL. Hard, I know! You'll do fine!!
It sounds like it's pretty common to measure more than you actually are. I have someone in my office who's the same amount of weeks as me and my belly looks 3x's bigger than hers and I was getting worried. Thank you for asking this question and for everyone's feedback. It helps a great deal knowing that there are peopple out there I can talk to who are going thru the same things. Good luck everyone!
