I'm hosting a baby shower on 1/9 and because our Florida trip got changed, I am only in town tomorrow and tuesday and the thursday and friday before the shower - so I only have 4 days before the shower (and they're work days, no more weekends) to do everything. I'm annoyed I'm doing this, but nobody else offered to do it for a friend and I felt bad, so I offered and then our plans changed and we're gone and I'm stressed. The shower is at 1 on Satuday 1/9 - I need some menu help.
Drinks: Champagne Sparkling Juices SParkling Water
Food: No clue and I need easy/quick/inexpensive ideas.
Cake: I guess...there is no way I'll have time to make one so I need something cheap - I guess costco (which are good, but I'd usually serve something nicer looking, but really, just no time to do my own fancy cake or cupcakes)
Oh and games...?
Help!
:)Thanks in advance
Re: Baby shower menu help
I threw a baby shower a few months ago for my girlfriend. We got frozen lasagne from Costco, garlic bread and bagged salads, we also got the cake from Costco.
Costco also has quiche in their refridgerated section, they are good and you just have to throw them in the oven. Quiche, salad and rolls is what we served.
Could you do a tray of deli meat & cheese, get some of those half french rolls and do sandwiches? Grab a pasta salad and a green salad and that would be more than enough. Costco cakes are totally fine! I personally like them better than the fancy shmancy stuff.
I don't do games at showers so I'm a loss on games...really you are fine with eating, presents, cake, see you later! 2 hours and they're outta there.
Love your siggy pic! What a beautiful pic and card design!
The other girls gave great ideas for food. If you want to make anything, this taco pasta salad is always a big hit. I add chicken to it too. Egg casserole is always yummy too. Can make it the night before, and then cook that day.

Totally skip the games and don't give it a second thought. I've never liked any shower games, and no one will miss them.
This is ideal. I don't really know any of her friends that are coming since our mutual group of friends are almost entirely out of state, so this is perfect.
Sandwiches is a good idea, too, since they'll expect lunch (I wanted to do a breakfast shower, but that didn't fly).
Quiches are a good idea, too - I don't eat them so didn't think they'd have them at costco, but that would totally work.
Before I read the other posts, I was going to suggest brunch type food - either those overnight egg dishes or quiche, muffins/scones/etc (store bought - Safeway has a delicious blueberry pudding ring) and grapes and a spinach salad with candied pecans (TJs) and strawberries with a balsamic dressing.
For dessert, we did pound cake topped with a whipped cream/lemon curd mix and berries - nice and "light" even though it's pound cake...you could also use angel food.
Games - match the celebrity baby name and mom or have people taste baby food and guess the puree.
We had an awsome chicken salad at my bridal shower and I loved that.
I also like all the other food suggestions.
As far as games I always go to the dollar store or goodwill for prizes. I like the safty pin game where you cant cross your leggs. My grandma loves that game.
"Oh come on Gromit, a bit more, you know... alluring!!"
Oh the Trader Joe's spinach salad in a bag is a great idea! it comes with the spinach, dried cranberries, blue cheese, candied pecans, and yummy dressing. That would be a hit for sure!
My fave shower lunch is chicken salad served in croissants like a sandwich. If you bought chicken salad from a deli that would be super easy to put together- otherwise my fave recipe is shredded chicken, halved grapes, chopped water chesnuts, and slivered almonds, with just enough mayo to hold it together and salt and pepper. With the spinach salad on the side you'd be all set. So good.
Good luck! Sounds like you got some great ideas.
