I saw this thread under "hot topics" and thought it would be fun to start one here.

Everyone has a name they love, but cannot use for one reason or the other. Maybe it's an ex's name, your DH hates it, someone named their dog the same thing, etc. And go!

I like the name Ray. I don't know if I like it enough to use it, but I couldn't anyway, because it's an ex's last name. Also, love the name Adam, but that's the same ex's first name, lol.

Dh and I have always said if we have a girl, we'd name her Marley. Since, Marley and Me came out, I'm not sure if we are so keen on the idea.

I like the name Calvin Carter Lastname, but DH said hell no.

I also like the name Camden, but our friend used the name.

My DH is being so picky with names, I love the name Olivia and he hates it, I like Hayden for a boy, he hates it...
Yet he can't find names he does like, so annoying!

If it's a boy, we are all set on a name, but if it's a girl we've been undecided. Every female in my family carries my mother's middle name, Ann, as theirs, so to choose a girl's name is hard because I like the names: Analise, Andrea, Anna, all of which have the "Ann" sound in them already and it sounds silly. I also love the name Emma, but I'm a teacher and have had my fair share of Emmas that were quite irritating. Actually being a teacher has ruined several boys names like Anthony, Joey, Charlie, Matthew, Christopher (also an ex's name), to name a few. After calling those names over and over again all day (because of course, they're not behaving), you get sick of them real quick!

Agreed! I know an Emma and she drives me NUTS!

DH has vetoed Audrey, Allison and Marcus. There have been several others, but those stand out.

I like the name Olivia for a girl but my cousin used it.

I also like the name Jack for a boy, but thats my neighbors name and he is a big, loud, burly guy and I just can't name my son after him.

I like the name Michael because it was my dad's name and he passed away a few years ago. Unfortunately DH has a family middle name of Chappell (pronounced Chapel) and our last name also ends in "le"...think Cambell. So our baby's name would be something like this....Michael Chappell Cambell.

I'm still debating because DH and I agree that we would rarely say the entire name at once or use the full name in public, but I know it sounds odd. I'll probably post on baby names at some point and let the ladies there tell me what they really think. Smile

One of my friends used "Adelaide" which is a girl name we liked.

I love William, but with our last name it doesn't work. Also like Sullivan, but I don't think we'll use it.

I love the name Blakely!!!! However my ex-fiance is Blake. Not why i like the name though. We are still friends and stay in touch (it's weird I know) However, i wanted Jamie Blakely and my DH said no b/c he has a friend named Jamie and her last name is Blakely... random...

We have a similar issue since I want our name to have a meaning so we were looking at family names and my sister is Danielle and my dad is Russell so both are out for fear of making our kid sound like a Dr. Suess cartoon. (Definitely not as bad as a middle name!)

Gosh our husbands sound the same. My husband has been giving me hell about names....he hates every name i say but has nooo names except names that are just wierd. I am definitly annoyed

I always loved the name Lila- but now we have 3 friends who have used that name and I refuse to be the 4th. I also loved Lily- but that is our cats name- ha ha. Francesca has always been another favorite, but our last name is so Italian and I hate the double Italian factor.

DH family is huge - with lots and lots of boys so deciding on a boys name which has not been used yet is very hard. My favorite is Zachary but that is DH cousins name.

Another name we loved was Jackson but now it is becoming so common.
