Samantha and Nate are still in the NICU, but doing very well. Dr thinks they might be able to come home as early as a week from now - Yeah!
However, my milk production seems to be dropping in the last 24 hrs. I'm only getting a very small amount when I pump now. Not that I was getting a lot to begin with, but it's def noticeably less. I'm drinking and eating as much as the LC says I should, but I'm concerned stress, and my high bp are contributing to the smaller amounts of milk I'm getting now. I've decided to stop all the post c-section meds as well. Someone told me to look at photos of the kids and that worked for one pumping session, but then stopped.
Did anyone else have this problem or does anyone have any advice on how I might be able to increase my production?
TIA

That link has great information on increasing your pumping output. Also, try to not go longer than two hours between pumps to really get your supply going. I also know that power pumping works, and I sometimes do this twice a week. I'll pump ten minutes and then take a ten minute break and repeat this for an hour. It helps give my supply a much needed boost! Also, I know you said that you're eating/drinking enough, but definitely just keep drinking water. I really notice a sharp decrease in my supply when I only do the bare minimum of water intake. GL!
I've not had any supply issues, but I did pump for the 1st week or so postpartum, because Caroline wouldn't nurse.
I pumped at LEAST every three hours, and for at LEAST 20 minutes, if not 30 minutes.
The best thing that I did? Self talk and imagery...sounds stupid but it works. I would picture my milk coming down like rain...and nourishing my baby. I could always 'imagine' myself into a letdown.
Good luck...
Pump every 2-3 hours
Oatmeal
Can you bring something home that smells like the babies?
Good luck!
This. I was not blessed by a great supply. My 6 month old gets exclusively breast milk (except when I travel several days for work) and I have been pumping exclusively since she was 2 months old. Try to drink a lot of water, eat oatmeal and pump every 2-3 hours for atleast 15 minutes per session. GL!
