Recommendations for a cheap, yet good quality glider!

So since about week 25 I have told my mother that if they wanted to get us something big/special, they could buy us the glider....we even went shopping one day and sat in what seemed like hundreds of chairs to find the type I liked the best. I was assuming that we would get it for Christmas since we didn't get it at my shower.  My family gave us tons of wonderful, useful gifts for the baby yesterday, including a new video camera, but still no glider.  I politely asked her if they were planning on getting us one because if not we really needed to get a move on things ( I may be induced in 2 weeks)  and she completely flaked on it.  She said she forgot all about that...I have no idea how she could have, but that is besides the point.  So short story long, can any of you recommend a glider that doesn't require weeks for shipment and still one that is relatively inexpensive??  TIA!

  • not sure if you're near a BJ's or not, but they have one in the store for $99!

  • I'm not sure on the quality but I know there are some at Target for ~$150

  • Do you have any children's resale shops? There is a chain in the Midwest called Once Upon A Child and they carry used baby gear and clothes. I found a glider and ottoman there for $50. It was really clean and very nice.

Check craigslist too. Otherwise, Walmart starts at $100.

  • Craigslist!

You can find listings all the time for them on Craigslist.

  • we searched high and low for a really long time for comfortable one that i still found attractive, and finally bought one today at Ashley furniture.  We ended up going w/ a recliner/glider instead of the typical glider w/ ottoman, but i fell in love with it and just couldnt say no.  my advice is to check any furniture stores around you (not just the baby stores).  we found some awesome deals on gliders at Unclaimed Freight and also at a few furniture outlets as well as the one we ended up getting at Ashley ($300 with 3-5 day delivery)

  • We ordered one from Walmart that was $166 I believe.  It was white and came in a few colors which is hard to find - most I found were beige.   Baby isn't here yet but it seems sturdy and will certainly work for being 1/2 the cost of others i was looking at.  We got the green which is light but pretty.  And they ship free to the store and then you go pick it up there.  They even loaded it into my car for me.
