Debating whether I should go to L&D-TMI

This morning, DH and I were having sex and there was a gush of fluid. I was on top and thought maybe he ejaculated and somehow spilled out, but he hadn't. We were both all wet, the sheets were soaked in two big spots, through to the mattress! It was a clear, very faint smell...so I'm not sure whether I peed on him (didn't feel like I was peeing) involuntarily, or if my water broke. This was around 6:30 am, so it's been about 4 hours. I haven't noticed anything out of the ordinary like contractions or anything.

I know I should probably just go get checked out to be safe, but I feel bad b/c I was already there on Tuesday b/c of discharge wetting my panties and worrying about that being fluid. They're going to look at me like I'm completely paranoid or looking for attention!  So what do you girls think?

    Have you called your doctor yet? They should be able to tell you if you need to head into L&D.

    I'd lie down for half hour and then get up. ?See if you leak. ?Repeat several times. ?If at any time you have a gush, then I'd head to the hospital. ?At this point their not going to stop labor anyways, so no point to rush IMO.

    That sounds like a lot of fluid. I would go to L&D just to be safe.

    The doula that taught our birthing class told us two things about water breaking-- first, that it smells a little like semen (which is no help to you now!). Second, that even if it does happen to break in a big "gush", you'll probably continue to feel a trickle of fluid over time.

    No idea how accurate either of those statements are...so I agree that calling your doc is probably the wisest move at this point.

    After reading some more online, it sounds like it's just urine. We got up, changed the sheets and went back to bed. I haven't leaked since, and apparently amniotic fluid is supposed to have a sweet smell. So now I'm really thinking it's just urine. DH thought it kind of smelled like urine. I think I'll wait it out and give a call if anything else happens.

    Nope, no contractions. No additional leaking either. 

    It also didn't smell like semen. I'm very sensitive to that smell-i hate it! haha

     I have done that  before...but unfortunately this wasn't it. I never got to finish! :(

    Well that does suck then. 

    Yeah, I'm becoming pretty confident that I just peed all over my husband. He buys me a new car and a laptop (among other things), we come home from xmas, he starts work toward the nursery, finally gets laid, and I pee all over him. He never got to finish either. Poor guy.

    Well, this is exactly how my water broke with DS and I didn't feel contractions until after they started Pitocin.  It won't take long for them to test the fluid.  I would call and go in but that's just me.

    I'd probably still at least call. You don't want to mess around if it could be amniotic fluid.
