Intro- 15wks, tons of questions

I wanted to introduce myself because I've been lurking since we found out we were pregnant. I'm 15 weeks with B/G twins. (Well, definately a boy and they think a girl.) I'm no stranger to twins as they run in my family: my Dad is a twin and I have twin sisters. My twins are a result of IUI. So they run in the family and we had some help. Anyway, my husband and I know we still have a lot to learn as the babies will be our firsts. I've learned a lot from you already- I already read most of Dr. Luke's book. Now I'm sitting here with my Baby Bargains book begining a list for a registry and decided I needed your help! Here are my questions for you MoMs. 1) Do you have two regular highchairs or the space saver booster seat type? (I don't know how we'll fit two highchairs and a table in our kitchen!) 2) Did you use two pack-n-plays? (Graco makes one with a twin bassinet but I wondered if it was worth it since when they get older the weight limit is 30lbs.) 3) I am thinking of registering for two swings and two bouncers. Or would you recommend just once of each? Thanks so much if you've read all this. I appreciate your help in advance and look forward to great adventures ahead!

Re: Intro- 15wks, tons of questions

  • Hardly ever used one pack n play-but now it's great toy storage. :)  Babies didn't seem to ever sleep comfortably in there-they lived in their Fisher Price Rockers/Seats-couldn't have gotten by with just one.  One swing was fine because they didn't need the swings to sleep.  My swing probably got used the equivalent time if I just had one baby. :)  Highchairs-ugh, I'm terrible.  I feed them a lot where it is convenient, and let's just say I don't use my 2 regular high chairs or space saver enough.  Good luck!

  • Hello and welcome! Here are my answers to your questions.

    1. We have the fisher price space savers and I LOVE them. They work well and they grow with my boys as well.

    2. We only have one PNP, and we barely used ours. We used it a couple of times when they were little when traveling. It has been folded up for about 6 months now. They nap in their cribs so we never used it for nap time. I may be bringing it out soon because they are starting to crawl and it will work out great putting one in there when I need to get stuff done around the house.

    3. We only had one swing and 2 bouncers. They both enjoyed the swing, but they just took turns using it. All babies are different and some do not enjoy the swing. I would purchase one and if you want two, then get one later. I highly recommend buying a used one. We got a $150 swing for $35. The previous owners LO did not like the swing and used it once.

  • I have two bouncy seats and one pack n play.  I bought one swing but will go get another if I need it.  And I'm  not worrying about high chairs until the time comes.  I figure when they grow out of the pack n play I'll put them in the crib.  Congratulations and keep us posted.
  • We use 2 Fisher Price Space Saver high chairs.  They fit on our kitchen table chairs.  We love them!  We only had 1 PNP and 1 arm's reach co-sleeper (where the babies slept the first 3 months in our room).  They both function as PNPs now when we are at my brother's or away overnight.  We do need 2 for traveling, but did not need 2 in our house.  We registered for 1 swing and 2 bouncers.  Bouncers were definitely needed.  We used 1 swing for awhile, but eventually did need to get a second one.  Goodluck!

  • welcome and congrats! Stop lurking and join in more!! :)

it's different for each mom - but what I like:

-2 high chairs... but if you really don't have the room the space savers are good.... BUT not good if you ever have family over for dinner and need all the adult seats- which is why we have 2 regular high chairs.  They make some really nice compact ones- i'd look into those.

-2 bouncy seats for sure.... we used them a LOT for the first 5 months- and still do (just not as much) also good to have them upstairs and down if in a 2 story house.

-one swing... we have the Sweetpeace soothing swing and LOVE it - the twins fit in it together for the first month or so... then we just had them take turns- has never been an issue --- esp if space is a problem - don't get 2!  Or get one regular one and one travel size.... because also- some babies do not like swings (my dS1 hated the swing- used it maybe 10 min total).

1 PNP --- we haven't even used ours yet for the twins- will put it up when they get mobile to have as a safe spot to put them in quickly when needed.  As far as the bassinets go - the weight limit will be reached pretty fast with 2 babies in it- so i wouldn't plan on using a PNP bassinet very long.

I highly recommend the Arms Reach Bedside cosleepers - we have 2 of the minis - they are the BEST thing ever --- make it so easy to sleep with baby right next to you- but safely.

We do have a lot of company a good point about the high chairs that I didn't think of.

BRU says the Sweetpeace can also be used as a bouncer. Do you like this feature? Also does it plug in?

Thanks so much! Everyone's input is so helpful right now because everything seems overwhelming with multiples are on the way.
