  My family fortunately hasn't tried to do this, but some people I work with do.  They're already telling me how to raise my child and what to do when the baby doesn't sleep and so on and so forth.  Um, I'm 11 weeks pregnant, I'm not having sleeping baby issues.

  We told both my family and DH's family yesterday that I was expecting. Everyone was so excited; it went beautifully. But, holy cow, the advice started pouring in immediently! And some totally crazy/innacurate stuff, too. Like only speak english around the baby (while in utero), or it will get confused. What?! DH and I are still happy we told, but we really opened the floodgates on this one...
  

  Are you kidding me? My brothers were adopted from Guatemala (Spanish speaking country) they were able to learn English just fine. In fact it is better if you want children to become bilingual for them to learn at an early age. Their brains are better at retaining language information.

  We told both of our families on Christmas Eve and they all did the same thing. Everyone is happy and excited of course, but wow, suddenly everyone is a know-it-all. And my clueless DH decided to bring up potential names, which of course started a whole mess of discussions and opinions. And me being so over-emotional all the time, I was constantly on the verge of tears while they all bombarded me with info. I was drained by the end of the day. I think we are going to have to keep the baby names a secret until its too late for anyone to raise hell and make us feel bad. lol. ohh what a day...
