Ok, I don't think I ever had them with DS (went into labor at 29 weeks w/o warning)
Ticker change yesterday made me realize that they may start soon (or not...) Now I am worried that I won't be able to feel them if they come now or I will and I will totally flip out running to OB all the time thinking im in labor (I am VERY- maybe overly- cautious this pregnancy b/c of DS's prematurity)
I have read books and articles and 'know' what to expect and feel but a lot of it sounds like how I felt the night before I had DS...can any of you ladies help ease my mind?
Does it start earlier with twins? I am 25 weeks (I have heard of a few singletons starting at 16 or so weeks).
Is it more obvious/strong?
Were there any OBVIOUSLY different signs btw bh and labor?
I know you ladies prob think I am nuts (I ask like this is my first pg but its not...just being real careful and asking almost ANY questions that come up) I do appreciate anyones advice and knowledge!
Thanks ladies! Hope everyone had a very BLESSED and Merry Christmas! Be safe through the New Year! ![]()

Re: Braxton Hicks Q?
I had no idea what BH were until I described what I was sometimes starting to feel in teh early 20s weeks to my dr. They said it was BH and then gave a handout on BH vs. PTL.
BH didn't hurt, at least for me. It was more of an "alien-looking" tightness that would come and then go about 30 sec. or a bit longer and be gone. Only when they start getting to be in a pattern or are accompanied by cramps did my dr. say that I needed to monitor and be sure it wasn't PTL.

I am on a home unterine activity monitor. When they came to set it up, I was not happy, didn't want it, I told the nurse I had only had a few BH and never any "real" contractions.
Well, I couldn't have been more wrong. I too thought the 2-10 minute tightening and super uncomfortable feelings I was having were the babies moving or BH. The RN explained BH last 15-30 seconds, and what I was having were real contractions. Now I monitor 2-3 hours a day and have had up to 9 contractions in an hour.
So, if you have them alot, I'd ask your DR. about a "HUAM", it is a huge relief for me now to know when I have overdid it and need to lay down, drink water etc... to reduce the contractions The craziest thing is, most of the "real" ones I have while being monitored I don't even feel!!!!

I'm so sorry that you had such an early delivery with your DS, I can't imagine how hard that must've been to have him in the hospital for so long.
Generally I want to say that there's a definite difference between labor and BH's. BH's are supposed to be painless (just ton's of pressure from your uterus getting rock hard). My labor contrax with DS1 were totally different from my BH's with him and my BH's with the twins. BH's were MUCH stronger with the twins, and they started around 12w (vs. 20w with DS1). I say "generally" and "supposed" because I was admitted to L&D at 32w4d for PTL and I thought they were just BH's (but I was 2cm 50% when I got there). When I was admitted, they were coming every 2-3 minutes during a NST (thankfully, if I'd been at home, I'd have blown them off for much longer). If you're just getting a few per hour (I would say no more than 3 just because of your PTL history), then I'd not worry, if it's more than that, I'd call your doc (and if it's a different doc on-call, I would definitely inform them of your history). GL. My DS1 was born at 37w5d (water broke) and my twins made it to my scheduled c/s at 38w.
