Here's what I can remember from the first days/weeks:
-preemie and NB sized diapers... in bulk
-wipes (I used pampers sensitive but it doesn't matter the brand) in bulk
-alcohol & Q-tips (depends on your dr, but mine said to clean around the girls' umbilical cords 2-3xs a day with alcohol)
-mylicon drops (use 1/2 dropper in 1 oz. BM or F if LOs are gassy)
-syringe bulbs (they give them in hospitals, one for each baby to extract mucus)
-Little Noses Saline drops (not new new borns, but at like 4 wks, mine needed to do saline washes to break up mild congestion)
-Cool Mist Humidifier (glad I had one for when they did become congested)
-Burp cloths (lots and lots to avoid washing around the clock)
-Lots of blankets--vary in warmth/thickness for swaddling
-Dreft or baby-friendly detergent
-Medela Steam Sterlizer bags (so convenient! add 2 oz. water and all your bottle nipples, pump parts, etc. are sterlized in 3 min. or less!)
-If you are pumping or storing milk, Medela storage vials or bags
-Bottle brush and bottle dryer racks (BRU or Target)
-LOTS of baby mittens or onesies/sleepers that have the extra material to cover babies' hands to avoid scratching
-Baby nail clippers
-Baby thermometer (the forehead one is quickest, but I just did armit or rectal)
-waterproof pads under crib or bassinet sheets
-waterproof pad for over changing pad (and lots of back up clean changing pad covers near your changer station!)
-not sure if your stance on this, but I was glad to have pacis in bulk on hand--my girls loved the Soothie ones they give in the hospital, but they also like the NUK brand and the Avent brand
thanks ATC that is a great list. I have a couple extra things to buy before the boys arrive, but I'm feeling more prepared after seeing the list you wrote.
