back pain at 30 weeks

Merry christmas ladies! The past 2 days I've been having back pain, more than usual. Its not sciatica, but more like achiness across my entire lower back. It almost feels like my entire spine in crushing down on my lower back. I know back pain is normal, but this is a totally new kind of pain. Is it just the weight of the babies? Has anyone else experienced this??

Re: back pain at 30 weeks

  • Mine is on my right side starting at the top of my butt and then it runs down my leg and just a little up my back.  Don't know which one that is but I can sympathize with you.  Sometimes it completely paralyzes me.  38 weeks seems so very far away sometimes.

  • Do you see a chiropractor?  I'd also recommend trying to stretch as much as possible.

If it starts to feel like a back spasm, and it sends you to the bathroom because you feel like you're going to have a bowel movement, call your doc.  That's what my back labor with DD was.

  • I have low back pain and have found that a heating pad helps a lot.

I do know some women have "back labor" which you would definitely want to let your OB know about. That said, I have never felt it so I can't tell you how that would differ from just a regular backache. Rhythmic? Maybe look that up to make sure you're pain doesn't sound like that.

  • I have a history of low back strain / pain, even w/out pregnancy. I noticed I was super achy yesterday morning and thought it was from crawling around on the floor with DS to open presents. Then it dawned on me that it was arthritis from the cold damp weather coming in. It started raining last night and then all day today, and the pain went away (mostly).

I go to a chiropractor once a month and get a massage once a month as prevention for too much back pain.
