Postpartum Preeclampsia

Hey ladies..

First... Merry Christmas to those who celebrate. Second...I officially moved out of 3rd tri on 12/17 when I had my little girl, Brianna Shea. I just wanted to write on here to see if anyone here has gone through what I am going through. I was discharged from the hospital last sunday only to wind up back in there on tuesday for 24 hours due to high blood pressure. I've been diagnosed with postpartum preeclampsia. They gave me a magnesium treatment that I was on for the 24 hour period which pretty much regulated my BP, and I was released yesterday morning. Since then I've been trying to keep calm and relaxed but I notice that my BP still goes up. Just wondering if anyone else has gone through this and what they did to help control their BP.  They have me on Procardia medication that I take once a day, other than that I'm not sure what else I could do. I don't feel like I have high BP. My vision isnt blurry, I don't have any headaches, or stomach aches, I am feeling slightly tired but I also just went through a c/s and child birth. I really really really hate to keep going back in and out of the hospital. I feel helpless really and I wish this would go away. I'm also really scared that something will happen to me which I know I shouldn't think about but I've never suffered from high BP before so I'm not really sure what to expect or how long to expect it. TIA for anyone who could share their experience with this and Happy Holidays! Big Smile

Re: Postpartum Preeclampsia

  • Merry Christmas! I am sorry you are going though this. I had pp preclampsia and swelled up pretty bad. The thing that helped me the most was really letting someone help out if they were willing. I am not good at taking help or asking for it...so my husband demanded it of me. Try to give in if you have a hard time. Just stay off your feet. Keep them elevated about your heart...so get some pillows out. Also, walk. I know it is cold outside....but when you get a chance go outside and just walk a little bit and get some fresh air. You need to keep your ciculation going and stay relaxed...hard to do...I know. Goodluck! I hope it gets better for you...just relax and if you have to order a pizza. Do not stress about cooking.
