Got a shot of terb, slowed them
down for a few minutes, then started back up. Got a second shot of
terb, got admitted, and started getting terb orally every 4 hours.
Things were calm for awhile, but I eventually started having pretty
decent contractions consistently every 2 minutes, and was really
getting uncomfortable with them.
Home care came in to start me on a terbutaline pump at that point, and I will go home with it. It's the exact same pump/needle/tubing/syringe as the reglan pump I had from 12-22 weeks, so that makes life a little easier. Sucks having something stuck in my leg again, but at least I'm not on mag.
It gives me a basal rate continuously, a bolus every 4 hours, and I can give myself an additional bolus 2 times in 24 hours if needed. If we need to, we can increase the basal dose and bump the bolus timing to every 3 hours. The only problem is that my heart rate is hanging out in the one-teens and goes up to 130s with a bolus. They don't really want it over 120, so I'm not sure how much we can bump up, unless my HR adjusts to it. I have the shakes like a crack_ho from it.
I still have a lot more
contractions about the 30-60 minutes before a bolus is due, so we'll
have to see what winds up happening with that.
I got my
first Celestone shot for the babies' lungs this morning, and will get
the second one tomorrow morning. Unfortunately the
steroids are making my blood sugars go haywire (I have GD), so I'm on insulin now
too.
My OB is going to check my cervix herself tomorrow
morning, and based on that and how things go tonight with contractions
will decide if I go home tomorrow. So far no cervical changes though,
thank God.
I don't even care if I get to go home, because I figure every day all three of us are on this floor together is less NICU time for them.
...looking forward to bedtime snack and Ambien at 1:30...
