30 week appointment = not so great news

Good news:  I am up 35 pounds in 30 weeks and the babies look great.  A quick measurement of Baby B's belly shows she is 2 weeks ahead.

"Eh" news:  My cervix is now down to 3.2 cm.  Still not in danger zone, but down from 4 cm two weeks ago.

Not so good news:  My doctor discovered today that it looks like my placenta has detached a bit in the corner.  He thinks it happened 2-4 weeks ago.  He said the babies are great and it probably won't be an issue, but he is being ULTRA cautious and wants to monitor me really closely now.

I had an NST done after my appt and all looks great there.  I go back Monday for a growth ultrasound and Tuesday for another NST.  He said we might talk steroid shots next week to be on the safe side.

And, my bed rest just got a bit stricter.  No more trips to Target, etc.  I need to lay low as much as possible.

He reassured me that he is just being super cautious and likely all will be fine, so I am trying not to freak out.  I really want them to stay put 6 weeks longer!

Thanks for listening.

After 2 rounds of IVF & 2 rounds of FET, we were blessed with identical twin girls!

  • Good news about the babies looking good!!!  And even though you received some other news, I think it is great that your dr is hopeful that it won't be an issue and that he/she is being very cautious.

  • Yay for the good news! I'm glad the doctor is being cautious, and at least he didn't put you on hospital bed rest.

  • it's great that your doctor is being so proactive on the placenta thing. fingers crossed it ends up being nothing, and the girlies can bake for another six weeks or so!

  • Keep those feet up, and take it easy!
  • I went on bedrest at 30 weeks (made it to 35)...try to enjoy the nothingness! it will be anything but that after the babies are born.

  • I'm glad the babies are doing well, but I'm sorry things aren't looking better for you. I'm pulling for you and hoping that they can cook for another month or so.

Isn't it a bummer when you find out that other than going to doctor's appts, your pretty much done leaving the house? Ugh, talk about going stir crazy! Hopefully the holidays will take your mind off some of it!

  • I am so glad those girlies are looking good and measuring well. Sounds like your doc is being very cautious wich is awesome.

Sorry about the strict bedrest. Towards the end, my only outing was a once a week trip with the hubbs to any store that had those electric wheelchairs. I think my couch will permanetly bear the imprint of my pregnant behind :o) Is sucks a bit - but will all be worth it in the long run.

You should PM me your address.... mail makes bedrest better!

  • I'm sorry some concerns have popped up and that you're stuck on more strict bedrest. I'm glad your doc is very cautious though.

  • Hoping you can indeed hang in there another 6-7 weeks. Sorry about the mixed news but I'm glad you and your dr are being cautious!
