We are going to be new parents in March and need some suggestions on local daycares / pediatricians.
Most of our friends are able to stay home with their kids or have family who can assist them. Unfortunatly that is not our situation and we will both have to work so we will have to take our son to a local daycare. I don't have much to go on, outside of online reviews, when trying to pick the best option for him.
I've talked to some of our friends about their pediatricians and have a few basic ideas. The hospital is going to give us a pediatrician list at our pre-admission appointment tomorrow, but I think that hearing about actual experiences from other local moms would be very beneficial.
If anyone has any recommendations we would appreciate the help.
We live in Elsmere, KY about 10 minutes from Crestview Hills Town Center, and would prefer to find both daycare / pediatrician close by.
Re: NKY Daycare / Pediatrician Recommendations
We go to Dr. Robin Warner at Union Pediatrics in Union, KY right across from Ryle High School. I really like that she is the only doctor in the practice so we aren't seeing someone different at every appointment, she is completely familiar with my DD's medical histories and we get very personal attention and care from her. Even though it's a small practice, it has all of the conveniences of a larger practice--we can always get an appointment when we need one and we've been able to get a hold of her when DD was sick during non-office hours.
We live in Elsmere too! For daycare, we go to Goddard on Legends Way (by St. E). Kate LOVES it there. Another option is Little Red Schoolhouse by St. E (corner of Dudley and Thomas More). Our pedi takes her kids there and is really happy. There is also Little Red Schoolhouse on Dixie by the Frisch's. I heard that they just recently started taking infants, so that may be an option for you as well.
As far as the pedi goes, we go to Family Practice Center (behind St. E). We see Dr. Oak and she is FAN-FREAKING-TASTIC, however, seeing her is difficult (she is a faculty member there, does rounds at the hospital, teaches, etc). Family Practice Center is a residency office meaning you never really see the same doctor twice. We do see Dr. Oak for all of Kate's "well" visit, but for other issues, we see whatever doctor is available. I highly recommend Dr. Oak but if it wasn't for her, we wouldn't be going there.
Good luck!
We're going with Abby's Child Enrichment Center. They have several of them in NKY. I know several people that have/had children there and they absolutely rave about it. We were impressed with their infant facility. I think they have an Abby's out your way. You can drop by any time to visit and interview them.
We're using Dr. Pappas from Northern Kentucky Pediatrics Group. Another good one (according to my friends) is Dr. Cahill of Pediatric Partners of Northern Kentucky. I've heard nothing but wonderful things about both groups. We chose the former because it's closer to our home.
Of course, take this with a grain of salt since we're due around the same time!!! I may end up disliking one or both.
I have a friend who recently started in-home daycare in Florence. She has a degree in Psychology, as worked as a nanny, has volunteered with Children's Hospital, and has worked with underprivileged families with LOs. If my parents weren't our "daycare" for DD, we'd totally be asking her to watch her.
If you're interested, email me at KYFIREWIFE at GMAIL and I'll send you her contact info.
