Pregnant after a Loss

I need to get a grip (rare meat mentioned)

So I just ate an entire steak fajita from Chipotle. It was delicious! As I finished my last bit I saw a piece of the steak that looked really red. Now I am freaking out that it wasn't cooked enough. Do I worry or am I and baby ok?

Re: I need to get a grip (rare meat mentioned)

  • I eat medium cooked steaks all the time, and a few of them have been a bit on the rare side too. I'd say that Chipotle is probably safe to eat pretty rare meat from though. I wouldn't worry about a one time incedent.

  • I am sure the meat got warm enough to kill off any germs. That is what I read. It just needs to be warm enough to kill germs. I had a medium steak the other night. So if you have something to worry about, I am really in trouble!

  • Your chances of getting a food-bourne illness from an underdone steak are MUCH lower than the chances from underdone ground meat because no one/nothing touches the inside of a steak, so it being a bit underdone isn't going to have the same affect. I eat all my steaks medium during pregnancy because I know that the chances are very low. Burgers, on the other hand, I get charred. Smile

  • I am sure you are fine.  I know it is scary when you see it at the end but the chances that it wasn't hot enough to kill any possible bacteria is really low.
