repost: tip for sitter- how much???

Okay- so I have 'back up' sitter, who is an in-home DCP for about 7 other kids, but will take ALyssa now and then when I need her to. I needed her to today.  She charges $25/day.  I usually call her the day/night before and she's always like, "no prob".  

So, I took her there today, and will pick her up around 2:00.  Thats $25. But, I wanted to give her a little more, b/c its Christmas and I really appreciate that she is so great when I need her. ........So, how much extra?  $10?

    I would be more inclined to say give her the equivalent of 1 day, but I'm sure she'd appreciate any token. Could you give her some cookies or something with it "from" your LO?

    We are way broke right now and I match some Christmas goodies and gave her that with a card in a tin. As PP said, she would probably be grateful for any amount.

    I dont know if this helps, but our sitter is an in home daycare. I pay her $100 for five days a week. I am getting her a gift cert. to the salon she uses for $100. Maybe do $50, which would be half a week?
