Blended Families

Things to be thankful for...

I wanted to take a moment and get into the "spirit" of the holidays.  Please feel free to add yours.  Tomorrow we have half a day and I won't be online until Monday January 4th.

Things I am thankful for:

1. My 79 yr old father who is recovering nicely after a bout of pneumonia and MRSA.  He will be home before New Year's Day. He is an amazing father who was raised under an abusive household, only to give us the best childhood.

2. My 77 yr old mother who has provided part time child care for my twins since they were 3 months old.  She is amazing and an inspiration.

3. My older sister (the only single one) who is always there for all of us.  She has put us all before herself and we're so thankful to have her.  She is the most unselfish person I know and my hero.

(I would like to wish you ladies a HEALTHY, fun, safe Christmas, Hannukah, Kwanzaa, or whatever holiday you celebrate.  May you and your loved ones enjoy your time together.  God Bless.)

  • Things I am thankful for:

    1. My family that has stuck by my side throughout these last horrendous 6 months of being sick.... Perfect strangers that have helped us out financially, spiritually, and emotionally... My husband for staying by my side (80% of marriages end when one spouse gets ill)

    2. My medication that is helping to kill this cancer... Had I not lived in the US, I would have been forced to get a transplant and would not have been allowed the chemo (as it is not a first line medication until others have failed) My oncologist who is absolutely fantastic! and my nurse who has been so wonderful and caring.

    3. My friends who have been a wonderful support and who are just so darn fun to be around :)

  • Good post.

    1. A pretty easy pregnancy and healthy baby girl that is soon to arrive.

    2.  My husband, our wonderful marriage, and how far he's come with his kids this year

    3. How far my step kids have come along this year - and here's to hoping they keep progressing positively next year.

    4.  My family. I'm just damn lucky to have such a wonderful, supportive, normal family.

    5. My friends. I have wonderful friends.

    6. My job.  I'm one of the lucky ones. I have a job I love and feel passionate about, a great company that I work for, and a great team of employees who work hard and do well for me and our company.

  • Good post Flo!!!!!!!!!!!  :) It's always nice to think about and hear of what people are thankful for :)

  • I am thankful for my 3 wonderful children

-for my DH who has stuck by me though the worst of the worst.

-for my parents who help me out whenever they can and never think twice about it

-my little brother who also helps me out whenever he can.

  • I'm thankful for my Fi how never fails to amaze and surprise me.  My family who are always there for me.  My health which I tend to take for granted.  And for having all the things I 'need' in life where so many don't.

And for all you wonderful ladies who keep me in check when I need it and entertained most days!

Happy holidays to anyone who will not be online till 2010.

  • I am thankful for my family-the whole lot of us!  I am thankful I have 3 great SKIDS, a fabulous DH and even the IL's are great!

I am thankful to have a job,  a home, and food on the table.

I am thankful for all of you... I realize when things I think are trite and also seeing I'm not alone definitely helps (even if I mainly lurk vs. post)...

    Happy holidays to you all!

  • 1. My DH. After a completely unexpected and overwhelmingly selfless move on his part last night, I am completely aware of just how lucky I am.

    2. My mom, for always trying to make me see the positive in every situation.

    3. Our jobs. Although they aren't glamorous, and do feel an economic sting, we will never be out of work (provided we stay where we are).

    4.  My (and LO's!) health. We've had some rough days, but overall are extremely blessed.

  • I'm thankful to my DS, my DH, SS, and to Dyson, my newly adopted out of control Beagle.

I'm thankful that my Mom has been living with MS for 31 years, and still here.

I'm thankful to have a good job, especially since we live in MI.

And I'm very  thankful for having a nice house with heat, lights, beds, and food to provide to my family.  I spent the weekend volunteering at a homeless shelter and it really makes you realize how having a place to live really is a gift that shouldn't be taken for granted.
