Anything new that you'd like to share? New appt? Did you find out the sexes? You may have to Highlight and scroll down to view question, as it is often cut off due to the size of the list.
*Today's Question*
What Christmas/Holiday tradition would you like to start/continue with your children?
Re: MoM's to Be Wednesday Check In
I had my 28w appt growth scan earlier this week and all is looking good. Baby A is still a little behind, but nothing to worry about.
QOTD: We go to the in-laws Christmas Eve for a traditional Italian "7 fishes" theme...the extended family is there (30 of us total?) so I look forward to taking the girls next year.
Hi all. Sorry there was no check in on Monday. I didn't have access to a computer. I don't think that there will be a check in on Friday either due to it being Christmas and I doubt that many people will be around.
Update: I have been on Procardia for a week now and am feeling ok. I still feel contractions, but its not anywhere like what it was. I go to the dr today for a BPP and a checkup. I think that the dr is going to check my cervix too. I don't know how long she is going to let me go. I hope to find out today!
QOTD: My parents have always let us open pj's on Christmas Eve. I think that we will still do that and I love having a stocking with alot of fun stuff in it. When the boys are a little older, I will make sure that we continue the tradition. As of right now when I can't get out shopping and when they don't know any better, I am not that worried about it!
Last Friday I had my big 20 week u/s and everything so far looks perfect. We are going to be opening our present of finding out the sexes on Christmas Day, so I will post about that soon! SOOOO excited.
What Christmas/Holiday tradition would you like to start/continue with your children? This may sound totally lame, but my DH and I always have Pillsbury Cinnamon buns Chistmas morning while we open our presents. It's not much, but I really look forward to it! hehehe.
Update: All looks good. Baby A is 5lbs 10 oz, Baby B is 5lb 1 oz. They were a bit discordant in the beginning up to 18%, but now it is only 11% so B is catching up. I am so excited to meet them. It is crazy how I have always had this "just get to January" (36 weeks) and now it is almost here. Of course, I plan on keeping them in til the 15th, but still. Hooray.
QOTD: We always do Fondu for Christmas eve and I'm sure we'll keep that up. Also Christmas morning, my dad would always read us the story of Christ's birth before we'd open presents, to remind us what we were really celebrating. I hated it as a kid because I just wanted my presents, but it really wouldn't seem Christmas without it. I hope to teach my kids that that is why we celebrate. So we'll keep that tradition going.
Hi everyone! I've not been good at check-ins at all but am going to try to do my best to be better.
Can I get my info updated? My EDD is 4/21 and I'm team blue/blue.
Update: All is well, the boys are growing well per my last u/s and they're kicking. DH finally felt a kick for the first time 2 days ago! Also, I went in for acupuncture yesterday (my acupuncturist helped me get pg) and she said she'd induce me naturally if I wanted her to if I made it to 38 weeks (my dr's max limit) so I can avoid pitocin. Yay!
QOTD: I'm going to start making Pluckin' Bread for Christmas morning every year. My grandmother used to make it, but she passed last year. It's basically the same as Monkey Bread, super yummy with coffee.
Had an ultrasound on monday and the girls are 14 and 15 oz respectively! I am def feeling more movement, I just haven't' been able to catch DH in time to have him feel them yet!
QOTD: Christmas seems so trivial to me this year, because all I can think about is Christmas next year with the girls! As far as tradition goes, my mom got each one of us a hallmark ornament every year, so i'm thinking I might start getting my girls one every year too.
Not much new here - we saw both hb's again Monday morning and are scheduled to go back next Monday for another check. I can't believe we've made it this far!
We exchange PJ's each year to wear on Christmas Eve (secretly it's so we aren't in ratty pj's for pics of DD opening gifts on Christmas morning)!
So fun!!! Did you have the Dr put the genders in a sealed envelope?!?! We did something similar and had a bunch of friends and family over for the big reveal. It was completely awesome!
After yet another day of contractions and some bleeding yesterday, today has been happily uneventful. They have upped my dose of nifedipine and it seems to be working.
QOTD: Since DH is Jewish and I am nonpracticing Lutheran, we still have not yet fully decided on how we are going to celebrate the holidays. We have decided to raise our children religiously Jewish, so we will celebrate Hanukkah with DH's family. As for Christmas, we might do the cultural thing with my family, but probably not in our house.
We found out at our 16w OB appt yesterday we're expecting B/G twins! Due date is June 8th still- although this is the due date for a singleton.
QOTD: We race around like maniacs from one holiday celebration to another. Next year, with the babies, I want to start the tradition of spending Christmas Eve and morning in our own home. Even though they will only be 6 months...Santa will still be coming to our house so I'd like to get the family used to the fact that we're going to want to spend Christmas night and morning in our own beds/home.
Update: My c-section date was postponed til 12/28, next Monday, so I will be 38w when the boys are born. Had an NST today and everything looks good.
QOTD: We don't have any special traditions, but I would like to start some next year, so I love reading everyone's ideas!! :-)
Jewish and Lutheran - nice combo! That's what we are too.
But my DH is more of a Jewish by culture kind of guy - not practicing.
Update: Just got back from an appt and everything is looking great! Baby A is estimated to be 3 lb 10 oz and Baby B is estimated at 3 lb 14 oz. Lots of good movement, fluid, etc. The surprise here is that my OB said at this point she's not predicting bed rest for me at all. Everything has been so smooth and the babies are nice and big, so IF something went south at this point she would just deliver the babies. Hopefully they'll cook for about 6-8 more weeks, but it's nice to hear that my OB is confident that they would do well enough outside of my belly.
QOTD: We do a lot of celebrating in our household - both Hanukkah and Christmas this time of year. We'll be sure to stick to the 'one present Christmas Eve, the rest Christmas morning' tradition. Also I have some of the recipes my mom uses for traditional German Christmas cookies that we had every year in my childhood. I'll be sure to bake those for our little girls, too.
Update: saw the Peri today all seems well. I have gained 10 pounds total this pregnancy, Twin A had a heartrate of 164 and Twin B of 168 both very active. Next appointment is the big anatomy u/s and echo and GTT. We also scheduled a 3d/4d u/s for fun on December 28, I hope those images turn out well.
QOTD: We are also interfaith so I am learning about Christmas still, I was raised strictly Jewish and my husband Chinese Lutheran Evangelical. We are enjoying sharing each other's religious and cultural traditions and plan to raise the twins exposed to both faiths celebrating each holiday with the grandparents that observe it
So they can make latkes, sufganiyot, play dreidel and light the menorah with me and my family. And trim a tree, eat bbq duck and potstickers, sing carols, with my DH and his family.
Nothing new to report!
On Christmas eve, our family used to drive around town and look at the houses decorated with lights, before going home and opening one special gift before Christmas morning. I would like to do something similar with our girls!
