Goldie: I have a question :)

As always I am seeking your babywise advice :)

The twins are starting to STTN and they were eating at 4a, 8a, 12p, 4p, 8p - going to bed at 9:30 in their cribs after bath and book.  Now they have slept until 6:30a - which is great but it messes up their wake up time (which was 8am).  I know the book says to establish a wake up time... should I wake them up at 9:00am and feed them even if it has only been 3 hours?  They wake up extremely happy when I wake them up before they want to (ie before 4 hours between feedings).. but they don't want to eat (Sam can't hold the bottle in his mouth because he is too busy smiling :) 

What would you do?

    they already go 4 hours between feedings? You are lucky! None of mine did - Griffin didn't until he started lots of regular foods - he still wanted a bottle every 3 hours even when on solid baby foods.  The twins are still on 3 hours for bottles - lucky girl :)

    i wouldn't stress so much about what time they wake up - just start wheenever they wake up as that day's wakeup time. Our guys wake up between 6-7am... every now and then they sleep until 7:30... so whatever time they wake up = their start time for that day - and we go 3 hours from then... it's pretty amazing though, they usually even out and get back to their regular 7-10-1-4-7pm schedule at some point during the day - no matter when they wake up... one of their naps will be longer or shorter and they end up back on their regular schedule - their bodies are so tuned in to when it's time to eat.

    Sometimes now they wake up long before it's time to eat - so i let them play until they start to show hunger signs - which is almost always their normal eating time.

    just play it by ear- be flexible. You won't always have an easy day to predict - but for the most part you can know ABOUT what time they'll eat that day.

    Thanks!  Mine sometimes need woken up at the 4 hour mark.. they eat about 6oz at a time.. is that how much yours did? They also wake up before it is time to eat.. but seem to like playing for a while so we just go with it.

    Gibby eats 6oz every bottle...he has for a long time. Gray eats between 3-6oz/bottle- you never know with him- he's got reflux and is my picky eater. They have 5 bottles/day and started solids at 5mo, too.
