Re: diaper area hemangioma ?
thanks ladies! I did some research and i am sooo worried about it ulcerating i CAN NOT imagine how awful that must be for them!! I was reading there are risks of a diaper area hemangioma ulcerating b/c of infection. I wonder if its worth getting removed to avoid the pain and risk? I will let the pedi tell me what he thinks but to be extra safe i may take her to see a pedi dermatologist.
If i had to guess DD's hemangioma is about a little larger than the size of a pencil eraser. I also think she has one the size of a pencil point on the back of her neck. I also read that putting acuaphor (spelled that wrong i think?) on the hemangioma will help the skin stretch and keep it from ulcerating. and use triple paste when it does ulcerate to keep the area dry? have you heard of these suggesions? obvioulsy i will discuss these w/ the pedi.
We got medicine when L's hemangioma ulcerated. And it took a good month for it to clear. And now I use aquaphor on it and keep it wrapped. It is the friction that causes the ulcerating. If it does bleed, you can apply pressure for a good 10 min and it should stop. As long as it doesn't ulcerate, your LO is not in any kind of pain from it. The doc will probably just keep an eye on it. She'll be fine!
