My Twins are Here

Just wanted to share! My twins arrived via vaginal birth on December 17 at 5:21 and 6:30 respectively.  Emma (baby a) was 6lbs 5 oz and Joshua was 5lbs 12 oz. I was 38w2d.

 I always like to read people's birth story so here is mine:

My goal was always to have a vaginal birth, since both babies were head down. I was induced that morning at 7 am with pitocin. I arrived at the hospital at 4.5 cm (I had been 3 and 4 cm dilated for a couple weeks)  The contractions on the pitocin were moderate and by noon, I had only progressed to 5 cm.  My OB then broke my water and the contractions picked up. I moved to 7 cm by 2 pm and requested my epidural.  The epidural actually was not pleasant for me. They had to stick me twice and then I got the shakes from it.  But it definetly took the edge off the pain!  By 3:30 I was at 10 cm and was moved to the OR for delivery.

I started pushing at 3:45 and Emma was born at 5:21.  The next hour and 10 minutes was pure torture as I had to continue to push Joshua.  I didnt expect it to take so long.   He came out "sunny-side up" and caused me a 2nd degree tear.

Overall, my recovery has been amazing. I was up and moving around right after delivery and actually have felt really good.

 

This board has been a great source of info for me during my pregnancy. I look forward to sticking around and offering advice about pregnancy and learning as much as I can about being a MoM.
