I'm thinking I can do this. Hobby Lobby sells the wooden letters. I was thinking I could paint them and then, with an adhesive spray, attach scrapbook paper to the front and trim it with an exacto knife. Sounds easy enough, right? I guess I'd also have to figure out how to attach the ribbon to the back of the letters for hanging. Has anyone tried this? I'm going to google it and see if I can find DIY instructions.

Hi peach
. For the wooden letters, put them face down on scrapbook paper and trace them, then cut out the paper and use spray adhesive or a tape runner to adhere and then you can go over with midge pdge to set and for shine. For the ribbon, I agree about a staple gun, but I also like using a glue gun as well. Glue the ribbon on, then staple.
I did mine a bit differently. I bought 5x7 canvas and traced a flower from her bedding in different ways on each canvas, some flowers taking up two, and then painted a letter on each one. We're keeping her name quiet, but here's one so you get the idea.
That's how most scrapbookers and cardmakers do it. You can find that technique on this blog: www.kwernerdesign.com , look it up on her you tube channel on her "you are the best" card tutorial.
Sorry I can't link directly, I'm at work.
I just finished mine yesterday. I bought the letters at Jo-Anns. They were 1.29 per letter and white. I did 8 letters, and I used 3 pages of scrap book paper. I laid wax paper on the top of the washer and dryer, and then I put the paper face-down on the wax paper. DH then coated the paper with the spray adhesive and then placed the letters (2-3 per page - you want to have enough room between letters to get in at a good angle with the exacto knife) on the paper. He put a few heavy books on top of them, and we let them dry overnight. Then, the next monring, I put the paper on a wooden cutting board and used the exacto knife to cut out around them. The turned out so great!
We haven't hung them because I'm undecided. I might want to use like a sticky/foam tape to attach them because I'm having a hard time with the thought of putting 8 nail holes in the wall that we just patched and painted. If I hang them, I'll use a hot glue gun to attach ribbon to the back of the letters, then I'll tie the ribbon in a bow and hang the bow on a nail in the wall. I did the whole project for less than 20 dollars, including the 6.99 I spent on the spray adhesive. Good luck!
