My LO is just about 5 weeks. I was wondering if you could share your feeding/bath/sleep schedule with me. Last week he was super consistent with feedings every 3 hours and sleeping for about 3 hours. I was giving him a bath in the am. The past 2 days he has been completely different - seems more fussy, wanting to eat every 2 -2 1/2 hours. He will stay up for an hour after eating and only sleep for an hour or a little more. I am jsut wondering what is going on with him. He wakes up crying and seems gassy. I bought Mylicon and have tried it twice today. Not sure if it is working... please help me with any advice. I am not sure I am reading his cues right. Thanks!
Re: 5 week old - help please
Growth spurt.
Also, at that age don't force your child into a schedule. They're too young to get into a routine. And even if you think you've established a solid routine your LO will change it up on you. Just go with the flow.
Honestly, we have no schedule. I feed him when he's hungry, sometimes this is every 3-4 hours and sometimes it's every 1.5-2. At night he usually gets up to eat at 2am and 5am and then he's up for the day around 8am. He usually takes one long 3 hour nap somewhere around noon. He falls asleep for the night around 9-11pm. I say usually for all of this because sometimes it's different, but we just go with the flow. As far as baths go, we do one every other day. If DH isn't working that day, we do it in the morning, otherwise it's in the evening.
I plan on working on a more solid nighttime routine the first week in January since I'll be going back to work 1-11.
I am having the same problem! Jake was eating 4 oz every 3 hours and sleeping more consitently throughout the day, however within the past week he is now eating 3 oz every 3 hours and up from 7am till 4/5:00 pm with little cat naps around there. he is EXTREMELY fussy and for fun he is now constipated! i am really trying to go with the flow with him but its hard when he is soooo fussy and not sure what he wants or needs.
I spoke with the dr today and he said staying up all day and feeding as you explained is normal. i also asked about his gas and constipation and he dr suggested giving him 1 tbsp of dark karo in his bottle. i am hoping this helps. to add to the mix, jake has a bit of a cold with a bad stuffy nose:( ugh what a week!
if you find something that works, please let me know!!!
we don't have too much of a schedule, except that DS has a bath nightly at 8pm before his feeding. (he usually eats between 8 and 9) after his bath and food he usually always falls asleep. Normally he sleeps for 3-4 hours but last night he slept for 5.
a few times we've had to skip the bath or whatnot because of xmas family plans, but normally that's our flow. Otherwise we don't really have that strict of a routine!

Our babies are around the same age. I don't think you can get them into a schedule just yet, they are still pretty young. During the day my LO will feed every hour to hour and a half or even 2 hours. Lately he has been sleeping 3-5 hours at night and waking up for a feeding. We try to wake him up around 8 or 9pm if he is sleeping so he sleeps better at night (per doctors suggestion). It seems to work, although we are prepared for him to wake up every 2 hours if he feels the urge.
As far as gas, just be sure to burp him every ounce. My LO has really bad gas and this is the best way to overcome it. We actually had a doc visit today and she said gas is normal as their intestines are still developing.
