So we went into an appt today for LO, he was 5 # 3 oz at birth and seems to be gaining a half a pound a week right now. He is 6 weeks old and now weighs 8 lbs 10 oz!!!! O...M....G! Is this crazy? The lady said that the average for babies this age to eat is 2-3 oz per feeding, well we passed that at 3 weeks old! He eats about 4-6 oz per feeding right now...
Anyone else? Am I overfeeding him or something or is he just playing catch up since he was so little at birth??

That sounds pretty normal to me. DD was 9.5 at birth and 10 lbs at her 2 week visit.. 9.1 leaving the hospital, so that's 1/2 lb per week. Now at 2 months she's about 14 lbs...
As far as oz, I'm BF so I can't say for sure, but around 3 weeks I was half FF half BF and DD was taking 4-5 oz bottles, def. more then average. It all depends on the baby. There is a 6 week growth spurt so that could be it too. Don't stress about it
Babies are pretty great at knowing what they need and how much.

at our 1 month check up the Pedi asked how much when he takes from a bottle and we said normally about 4oz she said okay he should be doing 4-5oz about now. I say your right on track. When we went for the check our LO gained 3lbs 4oz (4weeks between visits) so yea I got myself a little "tostie roll-er" .
DH shakes his belly by the way and tells him to "truffle shuffle" I so miss that movie

LO #1 - Took 2 years and 2 IVFs ~ DX - severe MFI mild PCOS homozygous MTHFR (a1298c)
LO #2 - TTC 7 months, surprise spontaneous BFP!
DS1 was a BIG boy for the longest time. We used to call him Jabba the Hutt, lol! Like a pp said, they thin out when they get more mobile. DS was 25 lbs at 8 months old, which was in like the 99th percentile. Now at 14 months he is still 25 lbs. Hasn't gained a pound since he started really crawling everywhere.
Some babies are just bigger than others! It tends to even out
The only reason I would worry about overfeeding is if your pedi says something.
That doesn't sound abnormal to me. My LO was 6lb 14oz at birth, and gained a pound a week for the first 7 weeks!
He was 13lb 15oz at his 8 week check up, and yesterday he weighed in at 14lb 12oz (at 9.5 weeks).
