I just went outside to yell at my neighbors kid for riding his quad without his helmet.
This is how it went:
Me: "AJ, where is your helmet?"
AJ: "In the house"
Me: "Put it on your head AJ"
AJ: "We aren't really riding"
Me: "I just saw you ride up that snow mound! I'm a mom now, I'm allowed to tell you to get your helmet!"
AJ: "okay" (with a defeated sad face)
ETA: AJ is high school age and his mom wasn't home, so I acted like I was getting the mail and just happened to see him w/ no helmet! I also know that his mom does make him wear a helmet!
Re: It's offical...NOW I'm a mom...
I just read a good article about moms "mothering" other people's kids.
OP, if I were your neighbor I would be grateful that you were looking out for my child's skull. Moms can't be everywhere.
I wish our generation of moms would assume that other mothers have the best of intentions when they "scold" our little angels. I think children need to respect adults (teachers, babysitters, well intentioned neighbors) more.
I love it :-)
Last night, DH told me I was "definitely a mom" because I wiped LO's snotty booger nose with my hand b/c it was about to drip into his mouth (ew) and I didn't have a kleenex handy! (I of course washed my hands immediately after!!)
