Had my 28 week growth scan today. Baby B is right on target (49th percentile), and Baby A is still behind a few days (34th percentile).
They took the measurements and then the doc (not my usual doc) came in and said he'd noticed Baby A's measurements weren't proportional - her stomach is smaller then the rest of the stuff they measured.
When I asked what it meant, he said sometimes if the placenta can't keep up, then it's like the baby is on a diet and the vital organs grow first. He didn't really say anything about what it means for the "big picture". He said not to worry though; that measurements are subjective and they'd check again in 2 weeks.
I'm not really worried, but just curious...anyone have this happen or hear of it? PS. My girls are fraternal and have separate placentas.
Re: Growth scan...small belly on one baby (?)
I am also pg with fraternal girls and had the same thing happen at my 28w appointment. I don't recall the percentiles, but Baby A's belly measurement was smaller that time.
They weren't too concerned about it at the time, and things were back to within normal limits at my followup ultrasound.
I had the same issue here. My girls had TTTS so one kept getting further and further behind in growth. Once there was a 24 percent difference and Cali was in the less that 10%-tile growth they put me on hospital bedrest.

We had the same thing happen recently. I'll link you to my post about it, so you can see all the reassuring responses I got: post. We had our follow-up scan last Friday, and while we initially thought things had gotten worse (the u/s tech measured Baby B's abdomen at 11.5%), the MFM came in and re-measured himself and got a much better measurement. FWIW, he said he was happy with Baby B's progress from 3 weeks earlier, and she was still only in the 24th percentile overall (up from 18th).
Also, our OB mentioned that sometimes separate placentas fuse, and then one baby starts getting more of the nutrients than the other one. He suggested that may have happened in our case, but I don't have confirmation of that yet. Perhaps something to ask about if you're curious or worried. GL!
