When DD gets constipated, I cut out cereal completely since it can make it worse. I've given her 2 oz of prune juice mixed with 2 oz of water before. Or just a baby jar of pureed prunes seem to do the trick too.
Yes, but it didn't help much. Instead, I mixed a couple of ounces of prune juice with some water and gave it to dd in a bottle. It helped more, but still not enough. We ultimately stopped cereal for a while and now we give her oatmeal instead. Our doctor adviced us to continue giving her cereal or oatmeal because they provide nutrients that they need. Oatmeal has a bit more fiber than cereal.
We mix Gerber apple prune with 50% water and usually within an hour it has done the trick. We had to do this with DS about twice a week until he was six months. The pedi ok'd it of course, but he was miserable without it.

Also pears and applesauce.
Stay away from bananas too for a while. Oh, and carrots and blueberries (if you're that far in the foods yet)
