I want raw cookie dough

seriously this is the WORST temptation ever! Even more so than the wine when I smelled my friends glass at dinner a few weeks ago, that was nothing compared to the chocolate chip cookie dough I have in my kitchen right now! I want to just grab a spoonful and lick it!

lol

Re: I want raw cookie dough

  • The pre-made cookie dough sold at the stores is made with pasteurized eggs. Go get some of that... Mmmm... that sounds yummy!

  • I ate dough when I made cookies a couple of weeks ago. I tried to make DH clean out the bowl, but he wouldn't and I couldn't let the good dough go to waste. Not my fault!

  • I couldn't pass it up over the weekend.  Why bother making cookies if you can't eat the dough?  I did contain myself and have only a tiny little bit.  I survived.
  • The cookie dough in ice cream doesn't have raw eggs so it's safe to eat.  I bought a big thing of cookie dough ice cream and just picked out the cookie dough pieces and gave the rest to DH!!! Smile

  • My sister had serious raw cookie dough cravings when she was pregnant with her first. I remember her coming home from college one day and devouring a bowl of cookie dough. My mom took one look at her crazy eyes while she was eating it and went "you're pregnant", sure enough she was.
  • I'm on another board that eats cookie dough like it's going out of style.  The reasoning is that only a very rare form of salmonella can be passed onto the fetus; the rest will just make you violently ill but won't effect the baby.  So they find that to be an acceptable risk.  Kind of like eating deli meat from Subway over lunch without heating it up.  ;)

  • i confess...i did it a few weeks ago when i was making cookies! I got nrvous and talked to my dr about it...he said the amount of samonella isnt too bad, unless you eat the whole bowl or eat it after its been sitting out for hours. and it doesnt pass over to the baby....he told me to avoid eating the kind you buy in the stores, wierd.
  • I licked my fingers while baking cookies. :::shhhhh:::

You're never "supposed" to eat raw cookie dough because of the chance for salmonella from the eggs. I'm about 110% sure I've built up and immunity though.

    me, too!

  • eh, it's fine.  I've eaten it.  And sushi, and had wine.  Everything's all good
  • Save some for me :)

  • You can make  cookie dough w/o the egg, that's how to make cookie dough truffles, or cookie dough for ice cream! Loop hole!
  • Yeah, I definitely ate some dough when I was making cookies the other night.

  • I had about 1/4 cup on Sunday morning (i couldn't help myself), I'm still alive, and so is the baby.
  • I ate it when I baked - too good not to pass up!
  • I make mine with egg substitute, which is pasturized.  Nom nom nom
  • Yeah, I'm pretty sure I ate about a pound of raw cookie dough during my baking sessions over the past week.  No guilt here!
