3rd Trimester

Does my dog know something I don't?

So my dog is quite partial to certain people and my sil is one of them and she was here visiting today... and cocoa went upstairs after her initial greeting and sat next to Wyatt's crib and stared at it for about 10mins... she wouldn't come down stairs she just sat there looking at his crib... she never goes in there unless I am there.

AND... S

he she just did it AGAIN!! this time I went up and watched her and she was wagging her tail profusley and pawing at the crib... so STRANGE

AND...to top it all off  the vacuum's in there and she HATES the vacuum but tonight she didn't care.I wish I taped it.  Maybe she know's something I don't.  It's just so strange. I had to share.

Re: Does my dog know something I don't?

  • yep i think they do-i posted yesterday that my golden retriever came into the bathroom while i was taking a bath and licked my belly (twice it did this) and then when i was done it nudged the curtain back as if to make sure nothing was left behind.

ours don't go in the nursery or our daughter's room unless dh or i are present but my golden gets very lovey when i'm in the final stages of pg.

  • I absolutely believe it!  I've seen shows where they've talked about dogs/cats being in nursing homes and "helping" dr.'s find where the problem areas are on patients.  I've never noticed anything w/ my dog (maybe b/c he's so hyper...?) but my very old cat knows when someone isn't well.  Sounds crazy, but it's true!
  • im from the 2nd tri board.. soon to be over here.. just lurking, but this post caught my attn..

i too believe that animals know. early on in my pregnancy, my dog totally ignored me.. wouldnt come near me... he didnt even want to be in the same room as me.. which we all thought was odd, since he followed me everywhere! (i treated him like a baby) maybe he was jealous?

and now, hes more loving.. he loves to sniff my belly.. hell rest his head on it and sometimes lick my belly... and if someone comes near me he stands guard over it...

  • I have found that since I have gotten pregnant, my female lab has to consistently smell my mouth.  Like she is checking to make sure everything is alright.  She hadn't done this before.  Then I go over to my sister's house and her male beagle does the same thing.  It is SOOOO weird but hey, as long as they are checking up on me, I'm not going to complain.  If my dog lays on/by me and won't move, I guess I'm not moving either.  She knows more than I do!
  • My dog puts herself to bed with me every night I go to bed.  She used to wait until she'd hear the TV click off and my DH would go to bed.  Now she prefers to sleep next to me until my DH goes to bed.
