we started using them after her umbilical cord fell off- which was one week. what kind of CDs do you have? how big is your baby? at first they were a bit big, and she leaked some, but it quickly got better.
Once we were home from the hospital we started using them. They are a little big. When we go out or when she is in a cute outfit we'll use disposable ones since we have some that were given to us. I think with DD #1 we started with cloth around 6 or 8 weeks old. We were figuring everything out first before throwing that into the mix! With 2 in cloth... it was easy to start right away. Also, for the first 6 months we mostly used flatfolds with a rikki wrap which we could fit more snug when they were itty bitty. Good luck.

Maybe I should try again! She is still just under 8 lbs, and we have the BG 3.0 one size. I have been a little weary of adding in one more thing, so maybe I am just too scared to start worrying about the extra load of laundry right now. Maybe we will start after our family leaves from visitng for Christmas.
I started using them with my preemie once he reached 6 lbs. KL0's fit well but I didnt like them. I've been laying trifold orange GMD pf's in xs thirsties, they are huge but they have never leaked. I've also been using small Pocket Change, they fit well and have room to grow.
I'm about to sell the dozen KL0's and 2 preemie proraps if you're interested. sganderson01 at mac dot com
We are using Fuzzi Bunz one size. We started using them about a week ago. They are pretty big/bulky on her, but they DO fit and we haven't had any leaks or blowouts or anything -- they just look kind of funny. But they can't be any more uncomfortable than wearing plastic-y, chemical-y diapers so I'm just going with it, lol!
I understand the hesitation, though! I was feeling the same way untill I finally just took the plunge. Spending $40+/week in diapers when I already had a $400 stash of CDs is what finally pushed me over the edge, rofl.
I started as soon as we ran out of the sposies the hospital sent us home with (around day 3). I was worried about the laundry and second guessed my decision to go with CDs, but they are a breeze. I wash every other day. She was 8 lb 12 oz at birth so she fits into her BG 3.0s pretty good. We also use Kissaluvs size 1 and prefolds. They all work great. I find that I like the prefolds the best during the day. They fit tiny babies better too. Good luck!

She's probably not going to fit into the BG one size until she's about a month old. DS didn't fit into them until he was about 9 or 10 pounds (1 month).
