Sweet Potato?

Sorry for this silly question. I sent DH to the store to buy organic sweet potato. He called saying they only have yams. Is it the same thing? I never hear anyone say start with "yams". Just making sure. TIA

    Yes. Yams (grown in America) are the same as Sweet Potatoes...it's just a more southern term. Now, if they are Yams from Africa, no, they are a different veggie.  Interestingly, Yams from Africa have been used as a form of Birth control while American Yams/sweet potatos have been used to boost fertility or to get a menstrual cycle back in balance....using them to get me back in balance got us pregnant with DD in less than a month after trying for a year.
