Hi ladies:
I'm not one for, shall we say, "creative" name spellings. I've been doing some looking around, and it looks like "Sloane" was derived from "Sloan" (for both males and females). In my case, I'm looking to use it for a girl's name.
Which is the more traditional spelling, or is the name so new to popularity that that hasn't been established yet?
Thank you.
Re: Is it "Sloan" or "Sloane"? (girl)
Classic. I'd come across the character in "Entourage" and her spelling was "Sloan".
That was my issue, too - it's not any name I've heard of pre-"Ferris Bueller". (And yes, I know how ridiculous that sounds in terms of naming one's children.)
So far we're one and one!
Thank you

I agree with this, but honestly either spelling looks classic to me. I prefer Sloane for a girl, though.
Agree.
Don't know, but I like it with an e for a girl. It seems softer.
Sloane = more feminine.
Sloan = more masculine.
For some reason, this is how I feel about it too. I really like it by the way.
