A new coworker that has been here for 2 weeks is off today for the rest of the week. We got called in to a pop up meeting and I made a comment to another coworker that maybe she's out having a voice surgery (her voice is really funny). Here I find out she's out because her husband passed away on Saturday.

I'm such a douchbag. I'm so sad

. He was sick and it has expected but still she's a mess right now and since she's new here nobody knew.
Re: OMG I'm such an @ss. Sad story.

I agree, there is no way to know something like that. The poor thing. I can't imagine
I know. I work at a hospital in communications and everytime someone passes we get the call and have to spread the word. I've had 4 in the last 3 days. I feel so bad for these familes.
You had no way of knowing what happened though. I agree with PP maybe you could reach out to her somehow. I'm sure she could use all the support she can get.
