I alternate between the crib and the swing when I put DS down for naps. If I'm not feeling risky enough, I will go straight for the swing. The thing is, I rock DS to sleep so putting him the swing helps him stay asleep I think. I can put him in the crib just fine usually but I don't think he naps as long in there as he does in the swing. He really doesn't have a problem sleeping anywhere though. As long as I keep jiggling him when I lay him down then he usually stays asleep. I have to take my arms away verrry slooowlyyy.
When he wakes up in the night then I just bring him into our bed because I'm too tired to try to coax him to sleep anywhere else, lol.

Basically the first 6-8 weeks he would only sleep in his swing and occasionally I would let him sleep in our bed. It was the Sweet peace soothing center. He's only slept in it a handful of times since then. I usually put him in our bed to take naps.
Autumn Bride - We do the same. We start her in the crib, and then when she wakes we either move her to our bed or into the swing. She sleeps so much better in the swing, but I hate that its really the only way to get her to sleep for long stretches!
DS slept in the swing right next to my bed for 3.5 months (minus the first couple weeks when I slept on the couch with him). We tried the crib over and over and he wasn't having it.
Then he started waking up every 1.5 hours in the swing and squirming to get out so we tried the crib again and voila! Slept great, and has slept there ever since. We really don't use the swing anymore.
ETA: I did start turning the swing off about 3 weeks before he let me know he was ready to move. I didn't want him to HAVE to be moving to sleep. I would put him in, push it with my hand to get it moving, and then let it stop. It never woke him up.
DS use to take almost all of his naps in his swing, until the batteries died, and those were normally catnaps. so when it died we got him into the habit of sleeping in his crib for naps, though i bought new batteries yesterday and he did sleep for a bit in his swing, but it wasnt long enough so i put him back in his crib. he likes the swing now because he can sit up and look out the window!

DS never slept at night in the swing, and he really only started to like napping in it at 2 months old. I still use it for at least one nap a day when I have him at home (up to four days a week), because he always naps so much longer in the swing. He can't nap in the swing at babysitters', so I don't mind that we still use it at home. He's getting used to sleeping everywhere, under a number of conditions.
Re: S/O Sleeping in the swing
my LO hasn't been in the swing for probably almost 2 months now. She suddenly hates it and screams. She'll easily nap in her PnP or her crib.
We didn't need to transition. She never took naps until about 3 weeks ago. Then suddenly one day she just went to sleep.
