Babies: 3 - 6 Months

DH so doesn't understand

Background- I have a step MIL that calls my son her little man, and it drives me insane, because he's mine, etc

So my step MIL sent me a message on facebook asking about her little man (yes Facebook), and she caught me at a terrible time this morning and so I responded, as nicely but firmly as possible, that I would prefer she come up with a new nickname for him. So I thought that I did well because it has literally been driving me up the wall, and I tell my husband about it, and he's mad at me! He told me I was creating unnessecary drama that he would have to deal with, and I'm sure he is going to end up being write but how am I supposed to teach my child that he should say what he means and not hold stuff inside if when I do, I get yelled at!

 Pretty upset now at everyone.

Re: DH so doesn't understand

  • I completely understand.  My MIL used to always refer to DD as her baby.  I put a stop to it back when she was a week old.  Umm hello it's my baby not hers.

  • I'm sorry, but I am lmao that you told her to pick another name for him on FB.  She must be so embarrassed. I totally don't blame you at all.  That would annoy the crap out of me.
  • I figure if she is going to communicate with me solely on facebook, than that's how I'm going to communicate back, I have the baby so she can't go too far.
  • I know it's annoying, but I'd never have the balls to call my MIL out on it.  I'd be too worried about making drama, so I just deal with it.  The way you did it is fine if it bothers you a lot though.  If you keep building it all up it might come exploding out at a very bad time which has the potential for major drama.
  • I understand. I hate when people say "How is my baby?" Drives me nuts. I am just too chicken to say anything :-P
  • My mom and 2 sisters constantly call my kids their babies. It doesnt really bother me, obviously they know that the kids are mine. It would probably bother me more if my IL's were doing it, but because it is my mom and sisters I think it's cute- they just get excited to see the little ones.
