Ok,so we are on our 11th month TTC and my OB said that we are having sex too 'early' in my cycle.  I have a 26-27 day cycle, w/ a positive OPK almost always on day 11.  We usually start having sex day 9, or sometimes even day 8.  Well she said that is too early and by doing that we are "depleting DH's sperm" (he has had an SA - he does not have a low count).  She recommended this cycle to have sex days 11,13, and 15.  Well today is day 10 and it is going to take a good amount of restraint not to jump DH tonight!   (Btw, IMO, her advice is hogwash, but I am giving it a try anyways since she is a doctor and all.)

    I'm not a doc either, but I did recently read that IF he has a low sperm count, then that applies. Otherwise I wouldn't think so. Said to have sex every other day. Lol I kinda know what you mean tho. Sometimes it's hard to wait every other day. Like yesterday haha, just couldn't help myself. Wink

    It only applies for every day sex.  You can still have sex that early in your cycle and just do it every other day.

    I agree with the hogwash theory.  So many doctors are so clueless.

    That doesn't seem too early to start having sex--3 days before ovulation? Not too early at all.

    If she has concerns about his sperm count, why doesn't she order up a sperm analysis? Month 11 TTC seems an okay point to do that.

    Yeah if you get a + OPK on CD 11 and she wants you to have sex as late as CD 15, you probably will miss your O (it'll be after your egg releases)

    If SA showed nothing wrong with DHs sperm, go for it (sex whenever you want that is)

    I think its usual for you to WANT sex around your O time! GL

    11/20/13- 11/23/13: light positives on FRERs and Wondofos
