So, I was thisclose to a verbal confrontation today...

but I showed restraint. I was checking out at the grocery store. There was a mom in the next lane with a little boy (probably around 15 months). He was melting down, needed a nap, whatever. Who among us hasn't been there, right? So, my cashier gives the poor mom the side eye. Well, this ticked me off so I said lightly, oh, I feel her pain, etc. Cashier then gives me the side eye, your kid acts like that? I said, every once in a while, of course! And she then says "well, my kid has NEVER acted like that because I spank her hard if she does. So, she has never once acted like that because she knows I will whip her good". I simply said, well, I don't believe in spanking, but everyone has different parenting styles".
What got under my skin? The superior tone she used with me - as if my child was a complete brat for ever acting like that and I was a moron for not spanking him. I am not saying that spanking is wrong (when a child is a certain age) and that I will never do it. However, she made it pretty clear that she spanks without discretion and that was her only form of parenting. It made me very sad thinking of the baby who is getting spanked for being tired or whatever.

maybe you should call her manager and complain.
Ha! That post actually did cross my mind while I was typing this...I did not do that (nor would I), but I was super annoyed with her.

I don't think you are at all! Two totally different situations.
I couldn't very well call the manager and say, her "parenting" style upsets me. I did give her the major side eye right back though! 
Exactly. I hate shopping there, but I save too much money not to shop there.
I know you don't think I am. That was the last post on the thread and it stuck in my brain. I wouldn't think you would call the manager, just joking!
next time your LO is having a melt down make sure you go to her checkout and take you own sweet time.
