Any recommendations? I'll even take 3rd party referals. ![]()
My current OB/GYN is Dr. Joan McCarthy. She practices out of Tampa General and I like her for my GYN appts.
However, I really want to do a natural, water birth (eventually) and would like a midwife for that. TIA!
Re: Midwife in Tampabay?
So I contacted my OB/GYN, Dr Joan McCarthy and asked her for a referral to a midwife. I wasn't sure how that would work out- I like my Dr but her personality isn't the one that I want delivering my as yet unconceived child. lol
Anyway, for those of you who might also be looking for a midwife in this area, she strongly recommended Elizabeth Page at the Women's Health Center.

I am like you, I want a natural birthing experience, my husband and I are TTC and live in North Tampa, and I am seriously considering a birthing center. There is one in Lutz called Labor of Love, I haven't actually been inside there, but plan to investigate it once I'm pregnant.

Elizabeth Page is WONDERFUL! As are all the midwives at Women's Health Care!
I'm glad you posted
I met with Mary OMeara, the practice owner. She was super nice and helpful about everything except the TTC part. She was really negative about my desire to chart. I don't think she understood my need for as much information as possible (including my own cycle) but we got past that and had a great visit. So I think I'm going to take care of the TTC part and I'll let her take care of me afterwards.
I do need to do some more research on TGH. C-sections across the country are up (it often happens in a downturn economy) and I want to know what their mandatory practices are regarding C-sections.
Anyway, thanks again!
