Hi ladies,
I'm in my 20th week of pregnancy with my second child, and we just found out that we're having a boy. (Yay!)
I had high blood pressure when I was pregnant with my daughter 5 years ago, and I was induced in part because of that. My blood pressure also rises in the summer because of the heat, and after I eat a large meal. It's not high all the time, but I especially notice it at those times.
Because I know what it feels like for my blood pressure to be high, I can feel the signs, like faster heart beat, pulsing in my head, and slight dizziness. I have a blood pressure cuff at home. When I check my left arm, it's fine, when I check my right arm, it's high. I just don't get it.
Everytime I go to the doctor and have my checkup every 4 weeks or so, my blood pressure is always fine...in fact, it's perfect with absolutely NO signs of being high. This past time I went to the doctor, BP was fine as always, and when I mentioned that I still feel it from time to time, she didn't believe me and was quite rude...she didn't believe that I had previously been on BP meds (after the birth of my 1st)
Sorry for the rant...my question is, is it normal for high BP to come and go and still have a healthy pregnancy?
Sorry for such a long post everyone, I'm just worried. Thanks ladies!

Re: history of high blood pressure
i had high blood pressure through my entire pregnancy and didn't have any issues until towards the end of my pregnancy. i was prescribed nifedipine to control it and minor contractions i was having. i ended up having to have a c-sec (breech) at 37 weeks, but my baby was completely healthy (just tiny...4lber, which never went to the NICU)...btw, the reason they wanted her out at 37 weeks had nothing to do with my bp, they were concerned with her size..she just wasn't growing well inside of me towards the end.
have you considered that your bouts could possibly be anxiety attacks? kinda sounds like them
just try to relax and enjoy your pregnancy...i know easier said than done :0) but when you're stressing, your baby is stressing...wishing you a wonderful pregnancy
Thank you so much...that could be the case. I am prone to anxiety, so that's entirely possible. :-)
