I am trying to prep for a night away from B and to start a stash for cereal, but I am getting hardly anything pumping. I pumped 4 times yesterday for 10-15 minutes and got a total of 5.5 oz.
Today I pumped twice, the first time (first thing in the am) I got 3 oz total, then just now I got maybe 1 oz if I am lucky.
I had not pumped prior to this for a few weeks, but when I used to pump I used to get 4oz even at night.
Any suggestions? I am drinking tons of water and eating oatmeal.
Do you think my supply will adjust to meet this demand if I keep at it, or since I am 6 mos in do you think it is what it is?
Re: How can I increase what I am pumping?
Pump hands free but do compressions https://newborns.stanford.edu/Breastfeeding/MaxProduction.html
Use warm washcloths on your breasts before pumping
Have some ?inspiration? like a picture, blanket or lovey that reminds you of your LO
Check your flange size, many people pump with the wrong size.
Turn the pump to the maximum you can stand, then turn down slightly.
If the pump doesn?t have a let-down button, adjust it manually to start quick/shallow then to slower/deeper suction.
Try pumping while watching TV or something (don?t sit there and look at the pump) to get your mind off the task.
