**Goldie**

Can you give me the run down again on Babywise? I think I am ready to start it when I bring the babies home this week but I want to make sure I am understanding it correctly.

You always explain it so well - do you mind explaining again once more for me?

I am almost done with the book but your summary would help me. I am planning on trying to put the babies on a feeding schedule of feedings every 3 hours if possible.

Re: **Goldie**

  • it's a flexible routine -- feeding every 3 hours about... our babies almost always wanted to eat right at the 3 hour mark - but sometimes 2.5... sometimes 3.5 hours.

Sleep- then eat - then play - -- though, early on there isn't much playing/awake time at all- and that is fine.  Just so they aren't learning to need to eat to fall asleep- you don't want that habit to start.

putting babies down drowsy but awake- looking for those drowsy signals and swaddling and puttind down before baby gets over tired - b/c then it will be a lot harder for baby to fall asleep.

the first week or so you just play it by ear... but all 3 of my boys got on the 3 hour schedule really fast- i suppose it heped that the nurses followed that in the hospital, too. (we had the babies sleep in the nursery every night - a total blessing to be able to get those few nights of sleep right after c/s!)

the BW twin chapter sucks - doesn't give any good info on what to do with twins... what we did was wake the 2nd twin at night and day- within 1/2 hour of the first one eating- so they were never too far off on schedule.  This was not a big issue since they both almost always woke up right at 3 hours to eat.  Around 5w we stopped waking the 2nd twin and let them both sleep as long as possible --- and by 8w both were STTN (Griffin sttn at 8w, too)

good luck!!!  When is the c/s? Tues?

  • My surgery is at 7am tomorrow morning. I am super-nervous even though I delivered my daughter via C but that one was rushed and I did not have time to prepare my brain. This time I am overthinking it.

They said they will take the babies to the NICU automatically since they are being delivered before 37 weeks. I am just nervous about the entire thing but after seeing my b/p yesterday in L&D I know it is time.

  • I know we do not want them to fall asleep while eating but DD did that regularly at almost every feeding. Do you just wake them up if they fall asleep and try to keep them awake? If so, for how long did you try to keep them alert?

Guess I am just getting nervous...

  • early on i didn't really stress about when they slept... a few weeks later I'd make sure they were awake for at least a few minutes before falling asleep after eating ;)  eventually it became more and more time.
