BF vs. bottle question

Tonight I tried out my breast pump for the first time and was very happy with it.  It worked really well and I feel like I am expressing a lot more milk than my baby is getting because her latch isn't the greatest.  I used the pump because I am extremely engorged and needed to empty my breasts and now am debating whether or not to start introducing a bottle sooner than later.  I was going to wait 2-3 weeks but it sounds enticing.  What do you all think and has anyone had this same debate?

    It's normal to be engorged at around five days pp. Be careful about pumping too much for engorgement, because doing so encourages your body to keep making that amount of milk and could lead to oversupply. As for pumping vs. nursing, either will work. Personally I find nursing to be easier, more convenient and less cleanup. What deterred me from seriously considering EP was the fact that it effectively doubled feeding times - pumping time AND bottle-feeding time.

    If your baby doesn't latch well and your intention is to continue breastfeeding I would say to avoid the bottle - possibly longer than you planned. It is much "easier" than the breast and the last thing you want is a frustrated LO during BF.

    I would say stick it out a little longer without a bottle.  I introduced a bottle before LO as a week old and he never ended up figuring out how to latch.

    EPing is a TON of work, so be sure you are really ready to take it on before you start bottle feeding!

    We had some latching issues around 3-5 days as well and I'm glad I didn't introduce a bottle... we were able to sort out the latch issues within a few days and I didn't have to worry about nipple confusion (from going from breast to bottle) or a decrease in supply (which can happen if you're pumping, since a pump is going to be less efficient than your baby).
